There is a new four way stop sign on 10th Avenue and 83rd Street in Dyker Heights.
People, who are walking in the area expect cars from all ways to stop. There’s nothing signaling the new sign, so most drivers aren’t noticing it.
This keeps happening in our district!

January 30, 2023Andrew Gounardes Failed To Take Action When Migrants Complained of Poor Conditions

Senator Gounardes’ district was drastically changed with redistricting. While this helped Gounardes have a very easy election, it also showed Gounardes failed to take action for his community AGAIN.
The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is in Gounardes’ district. When migrants complained of poor conditions at that location and returned to sleep outside the Watson Hotel in Manhattan in tents. (Video) Andrew Gounardes should have visited the Brooklyn facility. (Story)

One of the problems seems to be the men were staying at a $255 per night hotel and they didn’t want to downgrade. (See facility video) “More than 1,000 male, mostly Latin American migrants have been staying at the Watson for weeks.” (Source)
Andrew tweeted a statement with Alexa Aviles. In the statement, it said the shelter wasn’t ready for a visit from elected officials. Gounardes doesn’t need an invitation to visit a shelter in his area! When all your leaders do is tweet, get new leaders!
Mayor Adams went to the facility today and found the facility to be running well. See this video. Tonight this video saying the migrants were settling in was on NY 1.

January 29, 2023Community Board 10’s Meetings is Still on Zoom

Community Board 10 is not doing live meetings, like other districts are. They did in the Fall, but now they are back to Zoom meetings.
While committee meetings can easily be done on Zoom because they are small, general meetings that the public can participate in, should be live, especially in a NORD Community, like ours.
In the Fall, we saw many residents show up for the live Community Board 10 Meeting asking for help because their basements were flooding and Councilman Brannan and Senator Gounardes failed to help them! Many of the people were seniors!
Yet, CB10 voted to continue to have meetings on Zoom!? That’s strange, as most of CB 10 members were present for the Fall meeting when so many residents asked for their help.
Volunteers on CB 10 may need to be at home because they are high risk. Paid employees of Community Board 10 should have a live meeting for residents, who need to address issues because politicians here are not good.
Many seniors in our community don’t use the computers or have access to Zoom. People can’t even hear what problems their neighbors were having.
During the pandemic’s Zoom meetings, CB 10 approved projects that had lobbyists behind them including: the new school on 5th Avenue (Same seller as Nathans) (See here / and here), the loading zones (see here), and they discussed the car-sharing program (see here). No one identified the lobbyists behind the issues.
*Both Brannan and Gounardes were lobbied for the red light cameras.*
