Brannan and Gounardes Continue to Ignore the Homeless on the R Train Each Morning
Last Summer, Senator Gounardes and Councilman Brannan went into the train station because Gounardes was up for re-election. Gounardes told people that the homeless men and women on the R train were receiving help.
While both Brannan and Gounardes are tagged regularly on social media on pictures of homeless men and women on the R train, neither politician responds to residents.
Last week, we saw a mentally ill man drive a U-Haul through our neighborhood. Neither politician mentioned mental illness as a problem at the vigil this week.
NYC pays for people to help the homeless.
While Bay Ridge residents have seen a few people at the 95th Street station, those workers go into train cars without homeless individuals and take a ride. There is no one watching what is happening because politicians here are ignoring the problem.
We need new leaders in Bay Ridge – people who are willing to help the homeless because some of these people have been living on the train for years.
