Love That These Pols Helped Promote a New Business – 3rd Avenue Stroll

If you remember Spartan Restaurant, than you know Louie! He was the son of the owners and he has served this community delicious food for years. Now Louie has his own place Louie’s Gyros – it’s even better than Spartan. He has vegan options as well.

Glad to see Mike Tannousis, Nicole Malliotakis and other politicians gathering around and supporting Louie – often I feel the pols don’t do enough to help the business people. Eat in their place, take a picture and tell people what you ate – that’s all you have to do!

Louie’s Gyros is at 7720 3rd Avenue – see menu here

Marmalade is Lost in Bay Ridge

Marmalade (aka. Mama) escaped her carrier on July 13th upon being examined at The Brooklyn Vet Group.

It is believed that Marmalade is still nearby, hiding in that vicinity. She is an indoor only cat. She was last seen in the back of 76th Street Auto Repair.

Marmalade is 8 years old, ear tipped as kitten, wearing a black collar with flowers & a bell.

Her owner has health issues & limitations making it difficult for her to look for her as much as she would like to, although she is out everyday searching. Any help would be greatly appreciated. There is a reward for her safe return. Please call: 347-634-6779

Councilman Brannan Was Caught Speeding A LOT

The Post journalist, Sam Raskin shared Councilman Justin Brannan’s driving record. He’s been speeding in school zones

Brannan also used his placard for his friend’s wedding. (See here)

Brannan has spoken out about both of these issues. Furthermore, Justin Brannan was very vocal about the former senator’s driving record as well.

While Senator Andrew Gounardes keeps voting to add more cameras to our area, they obviously aren’t working because it doesn’t stop repeat offenders. Gounardes also didn’t reveal that lobbyists were behind the speed cameras.

In fact, Gounardes told people to vote for Brad Lander even after his awful record was revealed. (See here)

For Lease Sign on Beyond Dance on 3rd Avenue

I was sad to see the blaring “FOR LEASE” sign on Beyond Dance at 8717 – 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge. This business has been here a long time.

This wouldn’t have happened if the pandemic didn’t happen. The Beyond Dance Company is still teaching kids to dance and be stars – see photos here. It looks like they are using Our Lady of Angels now.

This is a double storefront and measures 40×100. This lease also includes the basement (the top sign over For Lease says that). The number on the sign is 718-921-1744.

The Best Istanbul in Bay Ridge Closed

The Best Istanbul at 8602 – 3rd Avenue has been closed for a bit. I wasn’t sure if it went out of business until now because the sign was been removed.

The Best Istanbul opened during the pandemic and was only open for a short time. There are a lot of similar type places in the area. They were advertising more than Chobana (see here), so I thought they would make it.

Before this was The Best Istanbul, it was Chobana. Prior to that, it was Casa Calamari for many years.

Benches Are Beds in Parts of Brooklyn

Steadman Square had a lot of sleeping people today in the early afternoon. The next bench had three men sleeping.

If you look on Google for this location, even in 2019 there are blankets on the benches (see here).

Across the street from Steadman Square, they plan to build an elementary school – Senator and 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge.
