Ft. Hamilton Senior Program Not Restored – Brian Fox Wrote With Suggestions

WOW the Fort Hamilton Senior Center was turned into a Learning Bridges Program to provide care for children of essential workers.
Now the Senior Citizens can’t have it back! Brian Fox called on Marty Maher to do something for the seniors!

While other senior centers opened around NYC, Bay Ridge’s senior citizen was not allowed to open!
I’m not surprised that Senator Gounardes and Councilman Brannan wrote a letter and did nothing else for the seniors.
Brannan and Gounardes fold to their party over and over AGAIN…..they haven’t been able to stand up for the people in this neighborhood for several issues now.
When Andrew Gounardes and Justin Brannan saw this block, WHY DIDN’T THEY DO SOMETHING FOR THE SENIORS? They could have invited them to play cards outside their office!
Both Brannan and Gounardes are busy campaigning for candidates in NYC instead of doing their jobs!
Great advocacy for Bay Ridge, Brian Fox!!
When the seniors weren’t able to used Fort Hamilton Senior Center they should have been offered a close alternative meeting place – either outside in a school yard or even outside the center.
I like that Brian Fox offered a solution to the problem as well!
I’m glad that Brian Fox sees this as being important because the seniors haven’t gathered in over a year and it’s time to get the vaccinated seniors back to their lives and enjoying time with their friends.

Why couldn’t money have been applied to clean the graffiti in Bay Ridge? It’s all over the place and makes the area look terrible.

June 14, 2021Bay Ridge, Politicians and Money. Who Was Left Out?

I like that Assemblywoman Frontus shares her funding. For the last two years she did a great job on sharing the money throughout the area.
Here’s the problem with money in our community: It doesn’t go to the community. It goes for not-for-profit groups.
Some of these organizations are fantastic and do amazing outreach. (Grandma’s Love)
Some of these organizations receive money already from Brannan, Gounardes and other money from City Council.
The Arab American Association received a lot of money already. LOOK:

Councilman Menchaca was running for mayor, so I guess he really wanted their support and funded them well!
But seriously….should groups receive that much money?
The Bay Ridge Community Development Center is very new and most people don’t know about their events because they don’t advertise them well. They are in St. John’s old spot at 9818 Fort Hamilton Parkway.
The Women’s Empowerment Coalition is also a fairly new group. I think they worked with for Congressman Max Rose. Why would these get the same amount of money as Grandma’s Love? Let me make a prediction here: this group will be fighting against Nicole Malliotakis in a few years. (That’s why we have to see which groups are political.)

The YMCA is a great organization. But $80,000 for The Healing Center? Do we have a huge domestic violence problem in Bay Ridge? I haven’t seen anything report about an increase of domestic violence in Bay Ridge. But the office is funded by many already (See here)
Something is weird about their address as on Facebook it says…it’s a mailing address only. (See here) Their website calendar has no events (here).
Coney Island received money for great initiatives which affect the whole community. Bay Ridge didn’t. I’m disappointed with Frontus’ use of money this year. Our community received increases in property taxes even during Covid and Mathylde Frontus completely ignored that.
*** Dyker Heights didn’t receive anything – not even for a school or children’s organization? Why did Frontus leave them out? That is not right. ***
Where a politician places the money is important. It’s disappointing to see Assemblywoman Frontus ignoring issues in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights and funding the same organizations as other politicians.
But it’s at least better than Senator Gounardes, who is unwilling to show where money is going.
