Citizen doesn’t show much for this accident. (See here)

What happened? NBC News reported the boy was crossing Marine Avenue in Bay Ridge when the bus, turning right from Third Avenue and struck him in the crosswalk. (Source)

Spectrum News reported that the teen has head and body injuries. He was unconscious and unresponsive. (Channel 4 News)

The bus driver stayed at the scene. He was not arrested.

The news said the teen is fighting for his life in NYU Langone hospital.

Many prayers for his recovery. And prayers for his family too.

It’s strange no one in the community mentioned it – not the NYPD or any politicians. WHY? It’s more than a day later.

Petit Larceny Doubled in Bay Ridge From January 2021 to 2022

Below are the Crimestats for the 68th Precinct – January 10th to January 16th (Found here – Pull Down Brooklyn South in the top left and 68th Precinct next to it)

In 2021, there were 17 incidents of Petit Larceny in Bay Ridge during the week of January 10th to January 16th.

In 2022, we had 34 larcenies – double the year before.

While the pandemic may be causing more robberies, we should see Captain Tolson making changes to stop people and businesses being robbed.

You don’t see 34 dots in the map above because some places were robbed several times.

Politicians, like Senator Gounardes continue to play on Twitter. Andrew has not once talked about crime in this area or how to help business owners who are being robbed repeatedly. People have called for a townhall from Brannan and Gounardes and neither has held one.

It’s clear more police are needed on our streets and patrolling.

The NYPD doesn’t include this crime in their totals so no one notices that the neighborhood is having this shift in more robberies.

In September 2021, Helen Klein repeated that crime was down in an article. (See here) Klein failed to share this at any time, even though it was reported in major papers months before. Not one politician asked the precinct to speak on that horrific crime!

Why won’t journalist report what is going on in this area?

NYC Parks Isn’t Warning Dog Owners in Williamsburg That Four Dogs Died From Leptospirosis

Four dogs in Williamsburg, Brooklyn are dead from a bacterial disease called leptospirosis.

Dog owners posted the sign below to warn others at the park. NYC Parks told them that the signs will be removed because they don’t have permit to post them.

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic diseasemeaning it is a bacterial infection that can spread to people and animals. It’s also called Weil’s Disease.

How do people get it the disease from animals? People can get it from touching the water bowls, food or urine of infected animals.

Symptoms of leptospirosis are: fever, headache, and severe muscle aches. Jaundice, kidney failure, or meningitis can develop. Treatment is with antibiotics. (Source)

Many blame the rat population at the park and point out the holes rats have dug into the dog park.

Update: FINALLY THEY WILL BE GETTING SOME HELP!

“Dogs can get leptospirosis from puddles or bodies of water that carry urine from infected wildlife. The bacteria infiltrate a dog’s body by burrowing into their skin.” (Source)

The NYC Department of Health issued a memo about an increase in leptospirosis after 14 people in four boroughs in NYC had it this year (no one in Staten Island had it) – see here Only one person died from the infection.

Oreo, the dog pictured at the top had to be put to sleep and his owner asked that everyone share the information about leptospirosis being in McCarren Dog Park in Williamsburg.

Three other dogs that visited the McCarren Dog Park died in the last week.

You can vaccinate your dog against leptospirosis, but the vaccine isn’t 100% effective against all strains of the disease and protection only lasts about a year. (Source)

RIP Officer Jason Rivera – Just 22 Years Old

It’s a sad night in New York City…. Two police officers were shot in Harlem at an apartment at West 135th Street. They were there to investigate a call of a woman who was fighting with her son. (Source)

Officer Jason Rivera died. He was 22 years old. He joined the police force in November 2020. (Source)

Rivera was married to a little more than two months ago. She wrote this to her husband. We failed this police officer and his wife. It’s not right that she is alone and his life is over.

Rivera’s police partner, 27-year-old Wilbert Mora was also shot and is in critical condition in the hospital.

The 47-year-old alleged gunman was out on probation and he was using a stolen glock. (Info here) He was shot in the arm and head by a third police officer. (Source)

“Defunding the Police” and not caring about the safety of people who protect the city has made NYC spin out of control.

Tonight Jason Riviera’s family mourns for him – there are no second chances for him.

In the first 21 days of the new year, 5 NYPD officers have been shot.

Mugged Brooklynite Explained How Having a Trashy Wallet Saved Her Money

Brooklynite and NY Post journalist, Hannah Frishberg was mugged last night. (She says she’s fine.)

The thief wanted her wallet. When Hannah didn’t retrieve it fast enough from her bag, the thief took her whole bag.

Today, Frishberg walked past the spot where she was mugged and spotted her wallet on the ground. Her wallet was made from a juicebox and the thief must have disposed of it quickly not realizing it was a wallet! (Source)

The wallet still had all her money. Frishberg made the wallet out of a juicebox in 2017 – she explained how to make it here so you can trick a thief too!

We needed to end the night cheering for a crafty Brooklynite who got her money back and had a lucky day!
