Shooting on 95th Street and 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge – June 23, 2024

Bay Ridge heads up – avoid 5th Avenue and 95th Street. (Channel 7 News)

Around 4:15 pm today, there was a shooting on 5th Avenue and 95th Street. A 24-year-old man was shot in the arm and a 21-year-old woman was shot in the leg. Several places have reported that it was not life-threatening.

The man and woman had been picked up by a gray Hyundai Sonata after leaving PluggedIn Sneaker Boutique. (Source) There’s blood in the back seat of the car and a lot on the street.

The news said that a white Mercedes was circling the block and then shot at the gray sedan. Rigites told the news they heard, “Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop.” Then the gray car crashed.
The 21-year-old female victim was laying on the ground in front of Plugged In. When a Ridgite saw that she was bleeding from her leg, he jumped into action. He put a belt around the woman‘s leg to stop the bleeding.
The man, who was shot in the arm, ran down the block and came back ten minutes later. (Source)
The address given on the Citizen App is for “Plugged In Sneaker Boutique.” Plugged In sells fashionable sneakers. In March, this footwear was being sold at Plugged In for $750.00:

The store has a security guard. People stand on line outside the store when the store has new releases. (See video). The woman who was shot was laying on the ground outside the store (a trail of blood came from the street.)
Plugged In told the news they closed their shop to protect their customers.

Thus is a gray sedan with blown out windows:

Avery Pereira’s video shows how serious this situation was:
We’re constantly being told that violent crime is a figment of our imagination. Our radical progressive politicians falling over to protect violent thugs. The shooter ran away and the police are searching for him. The description given was that he is wearing a light blue tracksuit. The police were seen on Shore Road.
Next door to the Plugged In sneaker store is a preschool, Ms. Jenn’s Little Achievers). Ms. Jenn and her staff must have been shocked by the gunshots. Across the avenue is the library – Ft. Hamilton branch.
The NYPD blocked off the area to investigate. (See here)
PS 104/IS 104 on the corner of 5th Avenue and 91st Street had a carnival this afternoon. The carnival was moved indoors due to the weather. After the gun fire, families attending the carnival were locked down in the school. It’s good that the school took precautions because the shooter has not been caught.
Freedom News shared this video of the police investigating. (See here) Freedom News wrote: “Two people were waiting for a car to pick them up, and they get shot at.”

June 23, 2023Charlie Ragusa Can’t Endorse Justin Brannan – Why Would Brannan Ask Him?

The NY Post had a story about Councilman Justin Brannan (See here)
Justin Brannan called Charlie Ragusa, a Brooklyn Democratic Party State Committeeman and District Leader in Southern Brooklyn since 1982. Brannan and Ragusa spoke over the phone about endorsements on Wednesday.
Charlie Ragusa told Brannan it was too early for an endorsement because the primary did not happen yet.
Charlie Ragusa wouldn’t be able to endorse Justin Brannan. Brannan has been lobbied over the Coney Island Casino. (See here)
How could Charlie Ragusa face the residents of Coney Island if he endorsed Brannan? Ragusa and many other people know that Brannan been lobbied over the casino. Even worse – Brannan did not speak out against the casinos, even when Mathylde Frontus and others have. Brannan hasn’t even written any articles against the casino in Coney Island.
A Brannan supporter said on Facebook that many people were lobbied.
No – only certain people were lobbied.
Ari Kagan was not lobbied. Ari has spoken out against the casinos. The residents do not wan a casino!
Bay Ridge has many problems, due to lobbyists controlling our neighborhood. This is how a school’s location was decided in Bay Ridge. (See here) When people objected to the location of this school and asked Brannan was not forthright with information.

June 22, 2023For Over a Year Illegal Weed Shops Have Operated in Bay Ridge and Justin Brannan Did Nothing

For over a year now, illegal weed shops have existed in our area and throughout NYC. They are not only selling weed illegally, but also to children. Justin Brannan did nothing to stop these shops.
Now election time is coming and City Council members realize voters don’t want the weed shops.
Andrew Gounardes and Mathylde Frontus voted for marijuana to be legal. The politicians did not understand how their bill would affect our community, Brooklyn or NYC.
In September 2022, when shops were selling illegally, neither politician took action for NYC. (See here)
Community Board 10 sent a letter to the state government because Gounardes failed us.
