May 19, 2023Brooklyn Reporter Journalist, Jaime DeJesus Wrote About A Crime From a Month Ago
On May 18th, Jaime DeJesus, a reporter for the Brooklyn Reporter wrote about a woman who was groped on the D train approaching 36th Station on April 18th. (See here)
DeJesus does not live in Brooklyn and doesn’t think we need current news.
I’ve written to DeJesus about how these late stories aren’t useful to our community, but he doesn’t seem to care.
There are so many current news stories to write about, but DeJesus doesn’t live here so he doesn’t know!

Vito LaBella announced this free film screening on Friday evening at 7:00 pm at Il Centro at 8711- 18th Avenue.
This screening is for Laura Caparrotti’s documentary, “Tutti In Scena” is about the history of Italian Theater in New York.

May 18, 2023Rite Aid in Bay Ridge Locked Down the Ice Cream
It’s pretty sad that the Rite Aid on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge needs to lock down the ice cream and ice because thieves are taking everything!
Why aren’t politicians doing anything to help local businesses? They should be telling us what they are doing to stop thefts at our local businesses.
We need to expect more and vote for new people.

Oishi Noodle Bar on corner of 94th Street & 3rd Avenue has made some changes and they will now ALSO be a breakfast, brunch and ice cream spot called Gigi & Max.
Gigi and Max are open on Saturdays & Sundays at 9:00 am.
Gigi and Max are the names of the owner’s daughters.
Anapoli Ice Cream parlor closed last Summer, so people will be glad to see a new sit down ice cream place.
This place will operate during the day on the weekend, while Oishi will still operate at dinner and on the weekends.
Oishi is open: Wed: 4-10p, Thu/Fri: 4-11p, Sat: 11am-11pm, Sun: 11am-10pm. Monday & Tuesday they are closed.

May 18, 2023Councilman Justin Brannan Tweeted a Petition Instead of Protesting with the Parents
When your politicians are tweeting about a petition, you know that it is time for them to go!
We need politicians who will stand with the people and fight, not put up politicians or write articles.
You should have seen Brannan protesting with the parents in Coney Island. He wants to win an election there, but doesn’t care enough to show up to back the parents!
Brannan and Gounardes and other elected pols in our community sat this one out.
The Democrats aren’t sure which way to go on schools – we need people who are clear that Schools Belong to Children!
Gounardes wrote in his newsletter that his staff was on the ground at the school in Sunset Park (no one elected the staff!)

Gus Constantellis (from Bay Ridge) has been performing in Comedy Shows all over the United States.
He will be in the Unorthodox Comedy Show at 1027 Pacific Street in Brooklyn on Monday, May 22nd at 7:30 pm.
Here Gus is as “Greek Mom” outside Paneantico’s on 3rd Avenue and 91st Street.
