J&A Fabrics at 9009 5th Avenue is the only fabric store in Bay Ridge. It’s a great store and the owner is super helpful.

September 28, 2023New Mural on 86th Street in Bay Ridge
The painting on the wall on the building on 86th Street and Gatling Place looks clean and fresh. Kaves painted it.
I didn’t realize people were going to be painted under the words, Bay Ridge.
It looks like these artists will be done in a few more days.
Too bad Councilman Brannan did not maintain this community- owned building. The huge weed outside is awful and takes up a lot of the sidewalk!
It’s sad that the money for communities was not used to revive this building. It has been empty for the entire time Justin Brannan has been a Councilman. The ad on the side of the building was there for years.
Councilman Brannan awarded $1,120,000.00 for an office renovation to NIA. (Information here)
Brannan never shared the money he gave to NIA with the community. We were surprised when we saw it listed on NYC Council’s website with Brannan’s name.
The problem with giving NIA the money is that our community doesn’t own the building!
Our community owns this building with the nice mural – but it’s completely useless to anyone in the community.

A smart business owner is opening Dyker Natural Deli directly across the street from Avid Hotel at 691 – 86th Street.
A new store is a great thing! Mah’s Laundry used to be in this location. It was closed for awhile and looked terrible.

September 28, 2023Rite Aid – Why Is No One Helping This Store?
WOW this is awful. Mary Jo shared some photos taken at Rite Aid Drug Store in Bay Ridge.
Above, the photo shows the gate that was installed in the first aisle to prevent people from running out of the store with items they didn’t pay for.
I don’t remember store shelves looking bare like this.
The drugstores in our area are in sad shape.
Customers have to ring a bell for many and then wait for a store employee to come and unlock the case.
