No Notice From Councilman Brannan About Street Renaming for Joe Joyce in Bay Ridge
In December 2021, the newspaper told us that 3rd Avenue between 79th and 80th Street would be named after the owner of JJBubbles bar, Joe Joyce. (Info here)
Late last night, Councilman Brannan announced the street naming on social media. No flyer was made for the event.
Maybe Brannan announced it in a private Facebook group earlier and thought he had shared it. Brannan announcing things in private Facebook groups is a problem for our community.
Joe Joyce’s street renaming should have been announced to the community last week.
We have seen this happen before with street naming events. If you aren’t the right politician party, it doesn’t get announced.

October 7, 2023Clothes Alterations- Best Tailors in Bay Ridge 11209
Having a good tailor to do alterations is important, especially when you need the alterations done quickly. We used to go to 99th Street Cleaners until we found Basil at Elegance Cleaners (Basil retired in 2021.) Now we go to 99th St. Cleaners and Milano on 86th Street.
1) 99th Street Cleaners – 9820 4th Avenue – 718-836-3120 Lee went to this cleaners with a rush job (he needed pants altered for THAT evening. An hour and a half later, he picked up the pants and they were done beautifully. This dry cleaners also have a decent size changing area (to change into your own clothes) into the clothes. This is not the cheapest place, but they are good.
2) Milano Custom Tailoring – 417 – 86th Street – This place is above the Children’s Place on 86th Street – across the street from where Century’s used to be. My friend brought a suit here and John did so much work on it to make it look amazing. When I was in a wedding party, I had to have a bridesmaid dress altered and John did a nice job on it – decent price – less than the dress store.
3) Finest Cleaners 8118 3rd Avenue (718) 921-5100 Does fast alterations for bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses and communion dresses. Reasonable
4) Stessi Custom Tailoring at 6 Bay 25th Street just did major work on my friend’s dress.
I already miss Elegance Cleaners (they did the best alterations at the lowest prices). I also miss Catherine at Brooklyn Stitchery.

October 5, 2023Frank James Received 10 Life Sentences + 10 Yrs
On April 12, 2022, Frank James was riding on a N train and he released smoke bombs and then shot 10 people. (See story)
Today Frank James was sentenced to life in prison.
Frank James is 64 years old and his attorney asked for an 18 year sentence.

Around 4:00 pm, there was a damaging fire in the Children’s Section of the Bookmark Shoppe. We are glad they were all safe.
We hope the cleanup and repairs are fast and the store is open soon.

October 4, 2023The Crowd Cheered For Ari Kagan at the Candidates’ Forum in Bay Ridge Today
Brannan kept his eye on Kagan.
Except when he was busy playing on his phone.
Moderators asked about climate change, which is strange because the migrants and crime are the two big topics now.

Climate Change is the worst topic for Brannan because he failed to request a hearing for environmentalists at the East River Park, but Brannan told them he requested the meeting.

Ari Kagan and Justin Brannan for District 47’s City Council seat.

Amber Adler, whose running in District 47 against Inna Vernikov. (Vernikov is not on the list for attending)
