Q.B. Electrical Supplies on the corner of 65th Street and 11th Avenue has a yellow sign to the right of the doorway that says “We’re Hiring” in English.
The rest of the sign is in Chinese symbols. I saw that as a sign that I should share it for someone whose family member reads this blog.

Ying Tan is Connected To Her Neighbors & Is Running for NYC Council – District 43
Ying Tan is running for NYC Council in District 43. I am impressed that her campaign is a lot different than the usual politicians.
Watch the video above, she’s making sauce with her neighbor!
That is how we bring communities together – by sharing culture!
The other day, Ying Tan brought a commode seat for a resident in the area who needed one. (No politician has taken action like that! See here) The area has a lot of seniors so Ying Tan could be a big help to them!
Ying Tan is a mother and that means she is very concerned about schools and safety! (See her website)
In July when a storm in Dyker Heights took down trees, Ying Tan went out to help her neighbors. (Storm info)
There is a fundraiser for Ying Tan on Thursday evening!

Coszcal de Allende on 3rd Avenue & 75th Street
Coszcal de Allende Restaurant is setting up at 7506 – 3rd Avenue (formerly Mr. Chips Diner and the Lighthouse Diner before that).
I love the warm peach color they painted the place – it’s so clean, pretty and bright!!

How Many Days Has This Man Rode the R Train and NYC Ignored Him?
This morning on the R train, this man rode into the the 95th Street station and back to Manhattan.
There was no one offering him help or even some clean socks.
How long do politicians in NYC get to ignore him? It’s almost Election Day – get read to vote!

Four Empty Storefronts Across From St. Pat’s
These empty storefronts are across the street from St. Patrick’s School and Church.
Here’s what I would put there:
a) A soup shop – there’s a lot of apartments nearby
b) A shop for kids junk – there are a lot of children across the street
c) ??
The first photo is of 9504 – 4th Avenue – This was a smoke shop that was closed in March 2023. (Story here)

Malliotakis, Tannousis & Staten Island Politicians Win In Court – St. John Villa Shelter Will be Closed
Victory! The Honorable Wayne Ozzi handed down a ruling ordering the immediate closure of the migrant shelter at the former St. John’s Villa Academy site.

Judge Ozzi also made clear that the right-to-shelter consent decree does not apply to migrants.

Staten Island politicians including Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis and Assemblyman Michael Tannousis (who also represents parts of Bay Ridge) sued over the St. John Villa Shelter.
The judge ordered the shelter to be closed because the migrants do not qualify under the “right to shelter.”
