Szuszkiewicz is Running Against Frontus

Mark Szuszkiewicz announced himself as the Republican candidate running for Mathlyde Frontus’ Assembly seat.
If Szuszkiewicz was running against Gounardes, I think he would have a real shot. But Mathylde Frontus did her job and is an honest player.
Mathylde Frontus has been the leader she said she would be. It was easy for her because she was already a leader in Coney Island. At the height of her pandemic, Frontus acted before other electeds. Mathylde was delivering food to seniors and masks/hand sanitizer to anyone who needed it.
Mathylde hasn’t loaded our papers with press releases. She’s made common sense bills. Mathylde divided money equitably between the two gerrymandered neighborhoods in her district. And finally, Frontus has had no connection with developers…thank God!

There is a Basketball clinic for children 9-12 on Thursday and Friday, July 30th and July 31st being run by Coach Reis.
Each day, they will meet at Owls Head Park to learn and play from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.

July 25, 2020Teen Stabbed on 60th Street and 4th Avenue
Channel 1 News said that two cars were in a fender bender at 2:00 am. Jose Guerrero, a 40-year-old man from Sunset Park exchanged information with the other drive.
A half an hour later, the other driver went to Guerrero’s house with two other men in a white Cadillac. They were on 4th Avenue and 60th Street to confront Jose Guerrero, because they believed his paperwork was not valid.
As the other driver began to fight Guerrero, Guerrero’s 19-year-old son, Alberto came out of the house to defend his Dad. Alberto was stabbed in the torso and neck. The Citizen app shows them taking the son to the hospital: See video Channel 1 News said the teen is in critical condition.
The slasher fled the scene in his Cadillac, but they have his PA license plate (someone posted it to the Citizen app)
The Daily News reported that Alberto is in critical condition in the hospital. See here

This pandemic really hurt small business owners. When the pandemic started businesses were forced to close. Then restaurants could open just for deliveries. Schnitzel Haus does deliver, but a lot of their customers went to the place to eat because the owners have specials.
The owner of the building wants $$ and Schnitzel Haus needs help. A Go Fund Me was setup here.
Also, there is live music and outdoor dining at Schnitzel Haus this weekend!

Shear Ecstasy at 7925 – 7th Avenue closed for the pandemic, but will not be re-opening.
The hair salon had been open on 80th Street for 32 years.

July 24, 2020Bay Ridge Trash Collection Will Improve in August
Councilman Justin Brannan announced that trash collection will increase on the Avenues in August. He said that the Department of Sanitation went down collecting just three days of week, but will be going to seven days a week in August.
Finally a little good news for a change.
Kathryn Garcia is the Commissioner of Sanitation. How does she let NYC get this bad?

Then she also had a design a trash can contest and she gave twelve winners $40,000 as their prize and to design prototypes of new garbage cans. We never saw the new, larger pails in Brooklyn. See here

July 22, 2020Mathylde Frontus’ Bill to Protect Children
Mathylde Frontus announced that her bill A.7970 passed in the Assembly. It’s a great bill which will provide real reform.
This bill requires video recording of all youth interrogations by law enforcement at designated facilities approved for the questioning of youth.
Video recordings promote transparency and integrity in the interrogation process and help minimize false confessions and wrongful convictions.
Let’s hope Velmanette Montgomery can carry the bill in the Senate and get it passed.
