Road Repair on 3rd Avenue in the 90’s – 9/25

Third Avenue in the 90’s has green signs up.

The signs say Tow Away Zone from Friday and Saturday  from 6:00 am – 6:00 pm because they are doing road repair.

Some genius thought Friday and Saturday night was a good idea idea to work on 3rd Avenue.  Why wouldn’t they do Monday and Tuesday in a commercial area with restaurants?

They have been doing road repair on 3rd Avenue at 2:00 -4:00 am, yet there have been no signs and although we have four political representatives – not one has made an  announcement about this on social media or elsewhere.

Anthony Fauci’s Time’s Most Influential List

Time Magazine named Dr. Anthony Fauci to their 100 most influential people list.  See here

Brooklyn cheers for Dr. Fauci because of his Dyker Heights and Bensonhurst roots. His father owned a pharmacy on 13th Avenue and 83rd Street (see here)

Dr. Fauci advised Trump on the coronavirus. He has also advised six Presidents on HIV/AIDS and many other domestic and global health issues.

Captain Tolson Confirmed Dyker Heights Drug Bust

Tonight was a short Zoom meeting of the Bay Ridge 68th Precinct Community Council.

Captain Tolson gave an overview of some issues for the area. He spoke highly about his officers and he said he is sharing what they take off the street through Twitter.

Last week,  the FBI kicked in the door of a home in Dyker Heights. Neighbors told us what they saw.  I shared about this on 9/18.

SIX PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED!

Politicians and the police didn’t say anything……almost as if they were pretending it didn’t happen.

Residents tweeted Senator Gounardes and Councilman Justin Brannan about the incident. Both politicians ignored the people’s request for information.

Captain Tolson of the 68th Precinct said he didn’t tweet about it because it was headed by the FBI and although the 68th Precinct officers worked with them, they didn’t head the project.

Political leadership is poor in this area area. When something serious used to happen, Marty Golden’s staffers would share the information on social media, so people didn’t have to worry about it.   (I’m not a fan of Golden, but he did do that).

Andrew Gounardes doesn’t share any information.

Here are some instance when Andrew Gounardes was silent and could have updated the community:

1) A business owner on 86th Street was shot. This is several blocks from Gounardes’ office.  The man went to the news because not one politician or local paper wrote about it and he wanted people to know.  See here.

2)  A soldier shot an AR-15 at his neighbor’s house in Dyker Heights.   The soldier wasn’t even charged with a serious crime (stats for the neighborhood didn’t change). See here

3)  Khaled Ahmad ate his father. Even People Magazine wrote about this, but no local paper carried the storey! Senator Gounardes didn’t say anything. See here

4) A man chanted, “Death to America” and “Death to Israel in Bay Ridge. Gounardes never spoke out against the hate. See here

Gounardes Did Not Speak Against Developers

Today Industry City withdrew their request for rezoning. That is a win for that area!  See story here

Not one  elected representative from Bay Ridge or Dyker Heights spoke against the developers.

Why didn’t Andrew Gounardes speak out with these state representatives?

Brooklyn representatives from other areas were able to stand up.   All these representatives said no to Industry City:

Sunset Park is adjacent to Bay Ridge – our businesses here would have been affected by any further development there.  Yet, I didn’t see the 5th Avenue BID or any politician or business owner talk about the rezoning.

Some of our electeds think it is okay to accept money from developers. See here:

https://www.kingscountypolitics.com/developer-greases…/

In August, the landmarking meeting for Angel Guardian Home should have had Senator Gounardes and Assemblyman Abbate speaking for the community. Instead, Andrew Gounardes and Abbate deferred to Councilman Justin Brannan.

Brannan is not the Councilman for 64th Street and 11th Avenue. Carlos Menchaca is.

Andrew Gounardes was the head of the Bay Ridge Historical Society, so we don’t understand why he would have deferred to anyone. Usually people who are a part of historical society love to tell the story of a building. Further, Gounardes had given a workshop on landmarking, so there would no reason for him to defer.

Both Gounardes and Brannan accepted money the developer.

We voted for both of these men two and three years ago. It is very disappointing to be represented by people with completely different views.

Brooklyn Rallies After Breonna Grand Jury

Brooklyn rallied for Breonna Taylor. Hearing the grand jury verdict upset many people.

The grand jury verdict found the use of force justified. No officer is going to be charge with killing Breonna Taylor. One officer will be indicted on lesser charges.

In Kentucky: “the use of force was justified in the officers protecting themselves.”

People just wanted justice for the young woman who lost her life.

Brooklyn Wins in Sunset Park!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to call in for the Industry City hearing.

Industry City withdrew its request.

I am beyond thrilled because I tired of developers winning in communities inwhich elected politicians trade it all….including their souls for developer money.

To the man who told me I was wasting my time because you can’t win against developers…….Know that God can always turn any situation around.

Brooklyn won because of passionate Brooklynites!

The right type of development can be done in Sunset Park and that will help the community. Sunset Park will continues to grow stronger now that the community won!

I grew up in Sunset Park and I had amazing neighbors and experiences there.

When there is a celebration, the music is loud and people love to dance . Sunset Park brought out the mariachi band

Celebration tomorrow in Sunset Park.

View this post on Instagram

Princess Triscuit AKA Trixie is ready for her furever home ! ???? She was considered feral by her trapper but due to a cut on her nose she had to spend just a little extra time at the Royal Orphanage to recover – in just a few days she was enjoying ear rubs and rolling around in her crate to show me her belly. She loves to play and at 6 months old she is spunky and chatty – such a delightful kitten! If you are looking for a kitten that will learn to trust you and be your best pal for life, please consider adopting this little lady! ???? Fully vetted , spayed ???? Send me a message for more info and an adoption application ???? Thank You! ????
