LinkNYC Not Installed in the Same Areas Where Home Owners Are Paying Twice the Property Tax

In 2018, LinkNYC was installed in Park Slope. Bay Ridge was left out of that initiative.

LinkNYC provides free public internet access.

This hurts businesses in our area as some people need the free internet access. If they can get free internet access in other shopping areas, they will shop there instead.

It’s interesting how Bay Ridge is left out of initiatives, but our property taxes keep increasing by 6%.

Justin Brannan, as the City Councilman for the area is supposed to check that our area is receiving all the services that other areas in the city are – he doesn’t do that.

Brannan doesn’t understand that Bay Ridge doesn’t need lobbyists, but he continues to engage and fight for lobbyists while using our city council seat. (More info here). He even did this during Covid-19.

Things Are Not What They Seem…

Fact; The property tax issue in Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Marine Park is real.

Fact: Senator Coward Gounardes plays on social media, instead of fighting for this community. He has barely done anything to even mention the problem. Many of Gounardes; colleagues have no idea that our community is being overtaxed.

Fact: Councilman Justin Brannan admitted he recommended the Property Tax Commission, which has caused purposeful delays. Brannan thanked the property taxed commission, even though it failed to provide a rate. Brannan is part of the broken system.

And it’s true the NYS Senate is trying to raise taxes. The bill is called S44B. (See here) This bill will hurt renters as landlords will just pass the cost off to them.

You haven’t seen Senator Gounardes talk about it have you?

This group is fighting against it:

They are most likely business owners – people in real estate, who don’t want to be taxed more on the rent they are receiving.

How do we know? The bill being put forward is to raise taxes on properties non-primary residence apartments. (See here) Meaning: This the tax will be increased for those who are profiting and making money renting their apartments (that’s okay – you can pay if you are making a profit).

They also tried including seniors in their promotional materials. But these are seniors who are renting their residence and became landlords – YES, they can pay too! If you are collecting, you can pay. You may not want to, but you can!

Their ads make it look like they are the same as many us who are being overtaxed- they are not. There are too many people trying to fool the working class people.
