Bay Ridge Democrats Endorsement Divides Bay Ridge

The Bay Ridge Democrats divided this community with their out-of-touch endorsement.
Brad Lander is a politician that has served in office and done nothing about property taxes because he benefitted from low rates all these years.
Did Chris McCreight, the head of the Bay Ridge Democrats tell his groups that Lander had been benefitting from this property tax loophole for many years? Chris knows.
There has to be some Democrats in Bay Ridge that care about property taxes. A few must care if they are paying twice the property tax of Brad Lander and his friends in Park Slope.
Did Chris McCreight also fail to tell the Bay Ridge Dems about Brad Lander’s ethic violation?
In 2019, Brad Lander admitted to an ethics violation of using his official government position to solicit donations for a progressive non-profit he helped to create, and of which he was Chairman.” (See story)
Brad Lander has been office for many years. He know the rules, but he thought he was going to get away with it.
Finally Lander doesn’t have a finance background, but many of the other candidates for comptroller do. Lander has a Masters degrees in social anthropology.
This endorsement was careless and it shows the Bay Ridge Democrats don’t understand what is going on in their community.
We have had enough of the career politicians!

RIP Karen Diaz
Karen Diaz was killed on March 10th on I-278 exit near 92nd Street in Bay Ridge. (Story here)
Karen was riding in a car with her friend, 30 year Mark Dookhan, who reportedly was driving drunk slammed into the back of a huge 18 wheeler freight truck.

It was an awful accident. There is a video on Loudlabs on Youtube. The video made me cry and I don’t even know Karen Diaz.
Dookhan was hit with driving while intoxicated charges at NYU Langone Hospital. The paper reported that Dookhan was arrested for drunk driving. (Source)
Here’s the part that is awful: “He had a previous conviction for the same offense within the past 10 years.” (See here) People who drive after drinking should have their license taken away!
Today 3/13, I wrote to Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus. I asked her to pass a law that would make repeat offenders have to have a breathalyzer device installed in a car. It would lock the ignition of someone who wasn’t able to drive again. My tweet is here. If you are a friend or family member, I urge you to reach out to Mathylde in Karen’s memory. I know it won’t bring back your friend or loved one, but it will stop someone else for being in the place you are today.
Diaz was only 30 years old and from Staten Island.
RIP. Prayers for Karen’s family and friends. How awful it must be to hear that this beautiful, young woman died this way. She’s with God.
Prayers for Mark Dookhan. He will have to live with the thought that he killed his friend.
