Fires Tonight in Bay Ridge April 6, 2021

Update: Around 12:15 am, many fire trucks with sirens raced down towards Marine Avenue in Bay Ridge – there was smoke in the basement of a home on Marine Avenue and Ridge Blvd. See Citizen App
Minutes later, we saw one of the fire engines return at regular speed. I’m glad they sent a trucks to take care of that home. The firefighters in this area are awesome!
The smell of fire lingered in Bay Ridge tonight.
A Bay Ridge runner told me there was fire is happening in NJ. He told me that you can see the fire across the water from Shore Rd/the bike path.
But there was also another fire in the basement of a building on 3rd Avenue and 91st Street – Citizen link

April 6, 2021Senator Gounardes Says We Will Be Paying Less Property Tax

Gounardes tweeted late tonight about the huge raises coming in property taxes that the news told us about last night, except he didn’t say that because he isn’t a man who is very forthright with information.
The news told us last night that huge taxes are coming to NYC residents. See:

Andrew Gounardes tweeted that the new budget will have us paying less property tax because of the Homeowner Protection Program for the next three years: (Tweet is here)

I bet that most people in our area will not qualify for that.
Andrew Gounardes likes to play with his party, rather than speak up for his community. You can see he doesn’t even mention Bay Ridge after the election (see here).
The delay in Gounardes’ announcement shows our neighborhood is not his concern! If we were going to be paying less taxes, Gounardes would have tweeted it last night and written about it early today.
Tonight Gounardes was on Fox News. Do you need your representative on television?

Senator Kruger was in Albany and presenting tonight. See here

This is Andrew’s third year in office and he hasn’t spoken up about the disproportionate property taxes. Last year, he spoke for the rest of NYS to get a property tax break.
Gounardes’ friend, Brad Lander benefits from low taxes in Park Slope.
If we are paying more, will you vote him out in the next election, Bay Ridge?
