Bay Ridge Assemblyman, Michael Tannousis announced (here) that there will be two public hearings for property taxes – both will be on Zoom at 6:00 pm.
Tuesday, May 11th for Staten Islanders
Thursday, May 27th for Brooklyn.

E&J’s Grand Opening with Ron Darling
E&J Boutique relocated to 6906 Fort Hamilton Pkwy. The new store looks beautiful! This was their old shop:
On Saturday, they had Ron Darling (former pitcher from the NY Mets) signing autographs to celebrate their grand opening!

There was a line outside the store and going around the block! (See here)

If I Am Near You, I’ll Be Wearing a Mask

When I see signs like the one above being held by Brooklyn politician, Mark Szuszkiewicz and his pals, I understand this is how the other half lives.
If you have someone who is high risk in your family, you understand why I wrote the title above.
My husband is a cancer survivor. In the early months of COVID-19, I worried that he would get the virus. Keeping my husband away from everyone for so long has been a lot of work. Now that he’s fully vaccinated, I can exhale.
But you won’t see him or I without masks. If you are around me – indoors or outdoors, we wear a mask, so we don’t intentionally spread the disease to you or your people. We don’t wear it when you aren’t around!
When we are at herd immunity, I’ll stop wearing a mask. We are at 40% of Americans being vaccinated – we need to get to 80%.

Loki, a three-year-old, African grey parrot is missing. His owners are offering a $5,000 reward for his return.

Tom shared that EMS brought a man that was outside Goustaro’s on 4th Avenue and 93rd Street to the hospital because he had a serious leg problem. (Photos here)

Andrew Gounardes is Pushing For a Bill for Constitution Day – Not for People in His Community
The beginning of June is the end of legislative session (yes, it is only five months long even though most senators, like Gounardes are working remotely and aren’t going to Albany). There are many bills that go unheard because there are TOO many bills.
Andrew Gounardes used our Senator seat to put in this bill which has made it to the Senate floor:
Gounardes claims to like the Constitution, but bill is just ridiculous for now. We are in a pandemic and people need help. This shows how our-of-touch he is with his community.
There are people in Bay Ridge who haven’t received rent all year from their tenants because NYS is using their apartment for free. Before Gounardes requests Constitution Day, he should work to make sure the ideals in the Constitution are being followed.

A resident shared this to Gounardes this week:
Many landlords have gone over a year without rent reimbursement from the state.

Whose Moving Into This Spot?
The former dealership at 8825 5th Avenue was covered over with paper.
This shop has been closed for awhile now, but residents could look in at the dealership – no cars and a lot of empty desks. Now no one can look in.
Then I saw that someone shared this video of them cleaning, a new tenant must be coming soon!

Why does it matter what goes here? District 10 decided to put a school across the street from this location. It matters as this is a very busy street with two way traffic and the B63 bus!
