Ridgites Post Full Garbage Can Pics Regularly

When you see photos of garbage cans like the photo above, you know this area of NYC is mismanaged.
In response to the garbage pictures, you may see someone write: “People are being slobs.” There are some slobs, but these pictures show that people have made an attempt to throw away the garbage.
The small cans used in this area are not sufficient for a community. This has been going on for years!
Look at that garbage can in the photo above and then look here and see the large cans that are used throughout NYC.
Other communities are not using the small garbage can that is pictured above. It must be an old outer-borough can. In NYC, many corners have several trash receptacles.
There needs to be enough pickups during the day to handle the amount of garbage from a community.
A few weekends ago, one Ridgite posted pictures of all the garbage cans filled on Shore Road. It turned out the city failed to pickup the garbage the day before.
Are people dumping household garbage on the corner? Maybe. But you won’t blame them if you knew that some landlords restrict tenants on the days they can throw out garbage. People don’t want to get bugs, so they toss a small bag in the corner can. It’s not right, but it’s understandable. Residents who live at these buildings pointed this out to me. Many apartment buildings do not have garbage cans outside for people to use. I have looked at the apartments and only a few have trash bins outside.
Another repeating problem in our area is that trash cans are removed from some areas and then not replaced. This is a regular complaint on social media as people see garbage pile up on their corner where a trashcan used to be.
What should be done? A private carting company should have been hired to do a mid-day pickup. Why? Because NYC Sanitation isn’t supplying large enough trash receptacles or doing enough pickups.
Finally, Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights look into where the tax money from this area is going —–> special interest groups. It’s not a hard concept to hire a company to take care of the trash, but someone can’t seem to get right.
Some politicians are too busy catering to lobbyists and developers or supporting other campaigns. Why would Brannan spend time on this election in Queens? He’s looking to gain support to get elected as NYC Council’s Speaker next year.

June 7, 2021Bay Ridge Rocks Continue to Share Beauty

Bay Ridge Rocks has been around for several years. Many people love painting rocks and putting them out for their neighbors to find.

It’s so sweet to watch a child find a rock. I saw a little boy find the Elmo rock and he yelled, “Elmo” and then held up the newly found rock.

Such kind neighbors!
