J&J Vaccine in Bay Ridge – Tuesday 5/25
On Tuesday, May 25 from 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Maimonides Medical Center will be giving the Johnson and Johnson vaccine outside of 8203 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge.
No appointment necessary. Just walk up and get a vaccine. One and done!

Bay Ridge – Grand Larceny is Up 100%
A lot of people read the NYPD Comstat totals and interpret them fast without looking at the crimes or comparing the crimes to last year.
If you look at the totals for the week shown about, it shows 12 crimes for this week in 2021 and 20 incidents for that week in 2020. Next to that it says crime is 40% down.
Some people will read that and say, “CRIME IS DOWN.”
Read a little more on the chart.
For the last 28 days this year – there was a total of 56 crimes in the 68th Precinct. Last year during this time there was a total of 57 crimes in the 68th Precinct. Crime is at the same level. (Pro Tip: You can’t say crime is down, if you didn’t admit when crime went up.)
Now look next to Grand Larceny for the last 28 days – so far there – 30 this year. Last year it was half that – 15. Double the amount!
What is considered grand larceny?
Where are these incidents happening?
When are these incidents are happening? Mostly during the weekdays – Monday to Thursday when thieves know less people are around.
What time of the day are these incidents happening? Mostly in the afternoon 1 pm – 3 pm and early evening 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
For our area, there are a lot of people not reporting incidents.
Sometimes residents have been told that they can’t report an incident. Are the statistics accurate if people aren’t allowed to make a report?
Vote out anyone defunding the police.

Salty Dog’s Outdoor Dining Setup Removed?
A few nights ago, we heard that there was a lot of commotion outside of The Salty Dog.
Apparently, their outdoor dining area was blocking the hydrant, so it was removed by the city.
HERE’S THE STRANGE PART: Salty Dog had this setup all year. People had been enjoying their outdoor space for a long time! Why did the city all of a sudden come for it now?
Some businesses get stuck with the hydrant in front of their place. Some businesses get a corner spot where they can setup on both the avenue and the side street as well.
Luckily, the weather is beautiful, Salty Dog set up their tables outside for Bay Ridge to kick back and enjoy themselves (and indoor dining is back as well.)
Salty Dog is at 7509 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge.

New Little Free Library in Bay Ridge – 73rd St.
This Little Free Library is a beauty. I love the style and it’s the perfect size to remind neighbors to read some good books!
A kind neighbor added it to 73rd Street between 4th & 5th Avenue.

A new club, Two Sicilies Pipe Club had its founding dinner at Amuni Restaurant in Bay Ridge last night. (See here, here and a lot here)
While I don’t advocate smoking because my husband is cancer survivor, their pipes are works of art – see pics.
There are no women in the club.
We know there are a lot of cigar smokers in Bay Ridge because there is a store/club dedicated to them. But if you like pipes – check out the Two Sicilies Pipe Club.

Eats-A-Pizza Reviews Campania
Toni Roni and Petta Peppa are in Bay Ridge reviewing Campania Pizzeria.
They liked the crunch and the different flavors of the pizza. There was not a lot of oil. They liked the sauce. They gave it a good score!

Man Arrested for St. Athanasius Vandalism – Charged with Federal Count of Criminal Mischief
Tonight, they news announced that the police arrested a 29-year-old man for the vandalism/hate at St. Athanasius last week. See story here
He was charged with one federal count of criminal mischief as a hate crime. It’s interesting that they hit him with a federal charge. Is this to prevent him from getting around NYS bail reform?
