July 3, 2021If You Have a Dog in Bay Ridge on The 4th of July

Brooklynites love their fireworks on the 4th of July – some love them in the months before and after the 4th as well.
But the 4th of July is pure torture for most dogs. Some dog owners have their vets give them a prescription for the dog – we don’t.
**My Natural Pet at 8318 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge sells natural treats for pets that may help them with the fireworks. 718-333-5678.
Here’s what we do every year:
1) Take your dog out for long walks throughout the day. If you normally do two walks – do 4 or 5 walks.
2) Play with your dog a lot in the afternoon on July 4th. We have family over, so they love playing ball with the dogs.
3) Slice up thin slices of meat and vegetables for them – it’s the 4th of July – they like to celebrate too.
4) Around 9:30 pm, turn on your music – a lot louder than usual.
5) Standby with snacks, a new toy or bones (whatever your dog likes)
This always gets us through the 4th of July evening.
Sometimes fireworks happen after that. If that happens, open your window and yell out, “C’monnnnnnnn….My dog can’t take these fireworks any more.” Good neighbors will stop because they like dogs.
Do not go out and speak to those who are lighting fireworks. Remember a Brooklyn mother did that last July because Eric Adams suggested it and she was shot. (See here) Many people have been drinking (or doing other things) all day.

July 2, 2021Maya Wiley’s Lawsuit…Rank Choice Voting Was Supposed to Save NYC Money

Remember when they told us that it would save NYC millions of dollars to have rank-choiced voting?

Now Maya Wiley is suing and requesting a hand-recount of the votes which would take months and a lot of money as staff to count the votes for each borough would be needed!

July 2, 2021Malliotakis Goes After Drug Traffickers
As of May, @CBP has seized 6,500 lbs of fentanyl at our southern border, enough to kill more than a BILLION people. @HouseForeign yesterday passed my amendment that pushes to hold the Communist Chinese Party & others who support this drug trafficking accountable. pic.twitter.com/Eo8thqGGPa

July 2, 2021Thanks for Tweeting NOTHING Councilman Brannan
What's the point of @nyc311 exactly?
— Justin Brannan (@JustinBrannan) July 2, 2021
Residents called in a large branch that looked like it was gonna fall 2 MONTHS AGO.
No response. No action taken. Nothing.
Today, it fell. Thankfully no one was hurt.
Why doesn't our city listen to the people who know it best? pic.twitter.com/OEt3hmw6eK
Councilman Justin Brannan went to Twitter to complain about 311. Doesn’t Brannan realize he is part of the the government – why didn’t he pick up the phone and call someone instead of tweeting?
This is what is wrong with our government – they think they can tweet and it will do something.
If you need a tree cut down, call Clearview Tree Services. 917-807-7316 I don’t know them personally, but I wrote about how they removed a tree and the roots from my yard a few years ago. They were an amazing team of men and completed the whole job including cleanup in 25 minutes. (See here)

July 2, 2021Warning: Black Dog on Black Leash in Bay Ridge

Heads up Bay Ridge who walk on Colonial Road near Visitation Academy.
A young Ridgite was bitten by a black dog on Colonial behind Visitation Academy today. The dog was on a leash with his owner – the dog’s leash was black.
The dog owner should have helped the child! I don’t know what the situation involved – maybe the child said she was okay. But she definitely wasn’t. I saw the bite and it looked serious.
The girl had a bloody bike mark, but her mother took her in for care and she is okay. I am putting this here because I am going to stay away from the area with my dog. If you have a dog or child, please be cautious around black dogs (mine is black) on a black leash (ours is red).
