68th Precinct Has a Good Sense of Humor

The 68th Precinct tweeted that they got those fireworks off the streets last night. LOL! Why did they post that on social media?

Fireworks were going off until 2:00 am yesterday. So where was the police? Dealing with people fighting on Bay Ridge Avenue & 5th Avenue and other issues they were called for.

See video here There was a huge discussion on how many people hit a guy. Getting to the bottom of the story is time-consuming.

I always thought the 68th Precinct liked the fireworks, so they just let them go.

Shore Parkway Promenade Deterioration

For years, while Nicole Malliotakis was an Assemblywoman, she and Diane Savino ignored the Shore Promenade, I am glad to see Michael Tannousis taking action for the community.

I’m surprised that Councilmen Brannan and Treger did not take care of this heavily-used area. The two men just couldn’t get it together. Allocating money to special interest groups and not using it to maintain the area has made part of the promenade unusable to runners.

Strangely, Senator Gounardes made a lot of promises for that area when he ran for office, but hasn’t done much to improve the area, except plant bulbs. (See here)

We have all these politicians and none of them thought to collaborate and work together on the Shore Road Pathway.

Congratulations Bay Ridge Ballet – 2nd Studio

We’ve watched Patty Foster-Grado build her dance school business here in Bay Ridge. She started with ballet classes in the basement of a church. Then she opened Bay Ridge Ballet at 127 Bay Ridge Avenue and now she’s opening up her second dance studio down the block!

The new dance studio will be at 110 Bay Ridge Avenue. This is the building next where Casa Pepe used to be. The building was formerly occupied by Bay Ridge Security. (See a street view here)

Patty shared this video and you can feel her excitement!

Congratulations Ms. Patty! We’ve loved watching your business grow in Bay Ridge!

Why Won’t the 68th Precinct Do More to Help This Business Owner Stop the Bay Ridge Window Cracker?

In June, a man broke the window of Take Away Cafe with a hammer for the FOURTH time. (News Story)

The store owner has video surveillance showing the man breaking the window four times.

The 68th Precinct police arrested the man after the third incident, but then they let him go.

Why won’t the 68th Precinct do something to help this business owner?

In March, another business owner shared that his business storefront window was broken. Is this the same vandal? (See here)

This business owner went to Channel 7 News because politicians and the police have failed to help him.

Why haven’t local papers reported about this?

Why hasn’t Senator Gounardes and Councilman Brannan helped the owner get a restraining order from the Bay Ridge Window Cracker? Because the two politicians have been busy campaigning for other politicians in NYC and tweeting nonsense. This business owner has been dealing with this for months!

If the politicians are in touch with the police, they must realize that this business has been vandalized four times. Why aren’t they doing anything? They love to tweet, but can’t be bothered with real issues in the community.

Replacing the window has cost the owner $12,000 so far.

Captain Tolson did not mention this business owner at the Bay Ridge Community Meeting this month. That’s why people don’t attend the meeting. Captain Tolson likes to talk about crime being down….we’ve never seen a store owner have his window broken FOUR times until now.

Take Away Cafe is at 7006 3rd Avenue. If you live in Bay Ridge, please stop by or order from them to show support. Menu here.
