Malliotakis Calls for Transparency and Accountability with Where’s Out Money Act?

This sounds like a solid bill that Congresswoman Malliotakis introduced (her description), but it’s not available online yet to read it. (See here)

Politics and political parties aside, whoever is in leadership in 2021 should be able to and WANT to show how our money is being spent.

Malliotakis is making me like her. Maybe she grows on people after awhile.

In our community in Bay Ridge, Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus is transparent about the spending, even if you or I don’t agree with how she spent it, Frontus has been transparent.

Senator Andrew Gounardes has not been transparent. Last Fall, my husband asked about spending and was given a strange list without specifics. Gounardes’ staffer took several weeks to reply to my husband. Tori said to contact her with any questions, but did not reply to my husband.

Councilman Justin Brannan doesn’t want to be transparent on some things. NYC government records let us know that Brannan set aside a million dollars for an office upgrade. (See here) The building doesn’t seem to need a million dollar upgrade, but Brannan has not spoken about our tax money being used there. The building is not owned by the government, so that money is not being invested in the community long-term, as it would be on a community center.

Charming House on Perry Terrace $1.25

One family home – 3 Bedrooms – 2 bathrooms. The inside is very pretty – nice floors. Everything looks new. (See pics)

It’s on Perry Terrace – off 71st Street. There’s no parking with this house, but maybe the new owners like to ride a bike.

In 2015, the current owners paid $972,000 (the home was offered at $949,000 less than a month before that – see here)

In 1995, this home went for $205,000. WOW!

Why Do Politicians and the NYPD Allow Trucks and Commercial Parking on 7th Avenue in Bay Ridge?

Has 7th Avenue in Bay Ridge been rezoned for trucks and commercial vehicles now? It’s a strange spot next to the golf course. This area used to be so nice!

Has someone paid for permits that makes the NYPD not ticket this area?

Besides the trucks, there are shipments of cars being left on the side of the road.

How come there are several NYPD ticket agents for 3rd Avenue and none for this area? #SomethingIsntRightHere

One Bay Ridge resident wrote on social media, “But these are truckers stopping for a rest.” No, this area isn’t a truck stop – there are plenty of them in NYS in commercial areas and truckers plan their stops in advance. Who would make an excuse for people breaking the law? Probably a family member of someone breaking the law!

If these were truckers stopping for a nap, they would be sleeping here. These trucks are left here day-after-day.

Several unhitched trailers with cars loaded on them are here. They are also doing this on 86th Street as well.

Recently, Councilman Brannan wrote online that the problem existed on this street for years.

It’s true there was a problem, but you can see for the 2019 Google Maps for the area, the problem was no where near as large as it is now. (See here – big difference) Brannan ignored the problem for years and it has blown up!

The trucks, trailers and RVs have gotten worse. Something is strange about the plates too – some are bent strangely. Some of these cars have paper plates.

We definitely need new political leaders who are focused on the area and not running around telling people who to vote for. (See here)

We don’t expect police officers, who are busy with work to ticket here, but we certainly have our fair share of ticket agents so one, two (or five) could be assigned to that block instead of ticketing people who are stopping for five minutes to shop from merchants on 3rd Avenue.

We have been told that our NCO’s are on the streets. This is Sector A’s area. Where you at Sector A?

Once in awhile the 68th Precinct will throw up a picture or two and shared that they have towed a truck on a street, but they never do it to any of these trucks. Who owns them and why aren’t they being ticketed regularly like you would be if you parked somewhere illegally?

It’s strange that the NYPD’s NCOs don’t see these trucks, but everyone else in the neighborhood can. What about the head of the NCO’s? This officer sees the complaints online, yet he continues to ignore them. WHY?

Andrew Gounardes is trying to raise tax money for NY. Why not enforce laws and ticket this area regularly?

As someone said online, something should be done now before something happens here.
