Hurricane Henri is a Super Storm – Level 1 Like Hurricane Sandy (Cuomo Said So)
Update: NYC has declared a state of emergency due to Hurricane Henri. Outdoor Dining programs are suspended starting at 12 am Sunday through 6 am Monday.
The News said at 5:00 pm that they believe the storm is going to really hit Long Island hard with high winds.
Around 8:00 pm, NY’ers were asked to leave the concert and seek shelter.
Governor Cuomo announced at 1:40 pm today that Hurricane Henri (we have heard several newscasters say this name as Onri not Henry).
Cuomo is out of office on Monday, so he is leading on the hurricane. Cuomo said stock up and take this storm seriously today. Bay Ridge loves to do this – go get your milk, bread and eggs – LOL!
Cuomo compared Hurricane Henri as a Storm 1 like Hurricane Sandy was. He continued to say that it depends on how the storm hits tomorrow.
We’re going to ziptie our outdoor furniture, just to be safe. I wouldn’t want my junk to hit/damage my neighbors windows.
Beaches are closed Monday and Tuesday.

Spirit Halloween Store is Coming to Bay Ridge
Spirit Halloween Store is coming to 86th Street in Bay Ridge.
The location is listed on their website. (Here) They will be occupying the former New York and Company Store. There are no signs up for it yet. The NY and Co signs are still inside and the store needs to be cleaned.
There will be jobs opening there. They aren’t up yet, but they will be posted here. Such a fun place to work (if you like Halloween)!
Halloween lovers are going to be so happy! Spirit sells awesome costumes – see here.
Even if Covid is around, real Halloween lovers still celebrate Halloween! If you sign up for their site, they send 20% off coupons – see here.

Max Rose on Bill Maher’s Show
Last night, former Congressman Max Rose was on the Bill Maher show. The segment began with Bill Maher insulting Donald Trump by calling him stupid and crazy. Then Maher insulted Biden’s handling of Afghanistan.
Rose said that people have to acknowledge the men and women who worked in the military in Afghanistan. Rose said there was nothing the US could have done to fix things in Afghanistan.
Maher asked, “Why didn’t we learn from Vietnam? How did we do the same thing again?” Maher answered his own question: “It’s the money.”
Maher said, “The President of Afghanistan left with over a million dollars.“
Rose said, “The Afghanistan War had to end.” Maher thought that although Biden doesn’t look good now, he believes that Biden will look good at the end of all of this.
Rose said we should having been wearing a mask awhile back. He said, “Folks need to get vaccinated.”
Both Rose and Maher agreed that hospitals are meant to run at capacity because of money.
Rose said there will need to be insurance for pandemics.

NYC Covid Safe app is a joke.

1. I uploaded a selfie as my ID
2. I uploaded a photo from a museum exhibit as my vax proof
3. I uploaded a restaurant receipt as proof of negative test.

All three were given check marks:

People continue to park commercial vehicles on 86th Street.
The 68th Precinct tweeted that they are working on this problem still:
A resident asked them to come to 5th Avenue because trucks are blocking the street corners.

Protesters Were Outside of Congresswoman Malliotakis’ Office Over Environmental Bill
Last night around 7:30 pm, I saw a small group of people (about 25-30) outside of Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis and Assemblyman Michael Tannousis’ closed office. (Video here)

Pasticcerria Rocco in Bay Ridge has joined the Lawsuit Against New York City
The owners of Pasticcerria Rocco on 4th Avenue and 94th Street don’t want to discriminate or desegregate their customers based on who has vaccines and who doesn’t.
They know they could face a fine of $1000 for not checking the vaccines of customers. They have joined the lawsuit seeking an injunction against Mayor deBlasio’s vaccine mandate. (More info here)
I am glad to see so many people going to their place and showing support to them as they are nice people and this is a very nice place in Bay Ridge! I have a friend and she goes here anytime she needs to unwind and get away from the world.
It’s not easy to be an owner of a restaurant in NYC in 2021.

Five Borough Bike Tour Postponed to 8/28
The TD Five Boro Bike Tour was supposed to happen this Sunday. It has now been postponed due Tropical Storm Henri.
The Bike Tour’s new date is next Sunday, August 29th.
