Craft Fairs That Aren’t Happening in Brooklyn – But Businesses Are Paying for Tables
In August, a woman shared the flyer below which shared that there would be a craft fair in Owls Head Park this weekend. People signed up to sell their handmade goods, but there was no craft fair at the park.
A search of the email address shows that the same flyer is being shared in many states. See here
Now the same account has shared an upcoming date for another craft fair in our area. A search for the e-mail address on the flyer shows these fairs are being advertised in other states as well. See here.
There is actually a craftswoman named Carlyn Lyndsay in the United Kingdom, so this may be a play on her name (it’s one letter short per name)

Also please report this to the 68th Precinct at 333 – 65th Street. 718-439-4211 While they may not be anything to do about this, they may release the information on their social media accounts and they have a good reach in our community – so other craft sellers don’t get caught up in this.
If you are in a local Facebook group with this account, please alert the owner of the group so other people don’t get caught in this.
Finally, maybe making a list of local reputable fairs will help keep scammers at bay. Here’s the places that I know have real sales – please add in the comments if you know any others.

Any flyers, and there are many, with the contact info as: [email protected] belong to the scammer. DON’T FALL FOR IT.
