RIP Tamy Quema Guahiac – Driver Drove in the Wrong Lane – Arrested and Charged

Tamy, a 6-year-old girl, was killed by a car on 12th Avenue and 67th Street before 9:00 pm tonight.

“The little girl was walking through the intersection of 12th Avenue and 67th Street in Dyker Heights around 8:00 p.m. when a Lexus SUV turned left onto 67th Street and struck her, cops said.(Daily News, ABC7 News and NY Post)

Pix News added on August 25th:the pedestrian signal was in the girl’s favor as she tried to cross the street.(See here)

The child was hit by a Qiuhua Zhu, (Seen here), a 30-year-old man, operating a 2017 blue Lexus SUV GX460.

Last night, it was said that the driver remained at the accident. (See here)

On Wednesday morning, the news revealed that he didn’t. “Police say Zhu initially continued eastbound on 67th Street and returned to the scene after traveling around the block.” (Source)

It gets much worse. The next part is horrible.

On Wednesday morning Fox-5 wrote: Zhu drove southbound on 12th Avenue and crossed over the solid double yellow pavement markings, traveling into oncoming traffic. As the vehicle traveled southbound in the northbound lane, Zhu made a left turn at the intersection of 67th Street and hit the girl.(Source)Zhu and his passengers were not injured.”(Source)

WPIX reported today:Police originally said the 30-year-old driver told them the little girl suddenly ran out into the street as he was turning left onto 67th Street, from 12th Avenue, and that he couldn’t stop in time.(Source)

HOW AWFUL!

Another newspaper wrote that Tamy’s Mother was unable to pull her daughter to safety. (See here) There was no way she could have predicted a car coming from that direction. Please pray for Hiromi’s mother – the family lives right near this intersection. (Source)

“Zhu was charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, motor vehicle failure to yield to a pedestrian with injury, failure to yield to pedestrian, failure to obey traffic device, driving the wrong direction on a one-way street, improper left turn on a one-way road.” (Source)

The area was sectioned off with tape and NYPD vehicles were outside of 1175 67th Street with their flashing lights tonight. See video

RIP Tamy Quema Guahiac.

Prayers for this family. There is nothing worse than losing a child.

A fund was set up to help defray the funeral cost. See here

Neighbors near the scene said that this intersection is dangerous. (See here)

An Opossum Causes Commotion in Brooklyn

An opossum stopped by Pep Bakehouse and Coffee Shop on 3rd Avenue and 94th Street in Bay Ridge to grab something delectable to eat.

Instead, he got caught in the corner and the 68th Precinct Police there to pick him up in a large cage. Adam from Loudlabs NYC captured it on video here.

(By the way if anyone has a small pet carrier, please donate it to the precinct.)

Did Governor Hochul Wear White for Her Inauguration For a Specific Reason?

Yes, she did! It’s a new day in New York!

Kathy Hochul is the first female governor of New York State! Female politicians wear white to honor those who went before them and those who will come after them. Kamala Harris did the same. (See here)

The women with her also wore white to celebrate this day:

Historically, women politicians used to this for years to protest and show unit. In the past few years we saw females such as Nancy Pelosi and AOC use white as a way to speak out against the former President of the United States. (See here)

Protest Against Vaccine Mandates – Are These Just Anti-Vaxxers?

The numbers above are from today (August 25th). (See Vaccine Tracker)

Mayor de Blasio must be happy with this progress. His view of NYC is quite different from individuals who can’t (or don’t want to get vaccinated) becauase he has the responsibility of getting the city vaccinated.

The Pfizer vaccine has FDA approval now, so those who were vaccine-hesitant may have gone to get vaccinated.

There are still people protesting over the vaccine mandates.

Some people have health issues and have been told not to get the vaccine – see here.

Protests are happening on August 25th and August 26th against the vaccine mandates.

Some people are religious and some religions are against the vaccine. Is a religious exemption allowed for this? See here

Some of the people not vaccinated are firefighters, NYPD, nurses, EMT and other frontline workers. Will NYC fire them over not getting the vaccine?

On Thursday, August 26th in Staten Island:
