The 3rd Avenue Merchants are having a special day on October 23rd.
Participating stores will be donating a portion of their sales to the American Cancer Society to make strides in Breast Cancer Rresearch.
Wear pink and shop at your favorite stores this weekend.

Who Doesn’t Want People to See the Justin Brannan Defunded the Police Signs?

EEEKKK I am pretty sure I know who that is!
They got caught pulling down this yellow sign:
Last election Mark Szuszkiewicz removed Frontus’s sign from a store and shared it on Instagram. (See here)
Now we have people removing signs from the neighborhood. The yellow signs read: “Justin Brannnan Defunded the Police.”
In the prior election, we saw Frontus’ banner disappear in the election against Saperstein.
People aren’t fooled by signs being pulled down.
Brannan joined in a Twitter discussion which he could have changed the language of “defunding the police.” (See here)
I was shocked when I read that tweet, I blogged about it here. After NYC Council’s vote, Brannan could have apologized for the language, but he didn’t.

Pedestrian Struck 86th St. & Ft. Hamilton
Around 7:45 pm, Citizen has shared that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on 86th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway. (Hear call)
Hopefully the person is alright.

People have raved about their square pie and their chicken wings too!
Chris, a Bay Ridge resident shared that their gyro pizza with tziki sauce and tomatoes (no onions) was good and worth a try.
Congratulations to the new owners!
A dry cleaner used to be at this location.

Info on the Shooter in Bay Ridge – 5th Avenue

On Saturday, October 2, 2021, this person was in front of 7812 5th Avenue (Joe’s Appliance Store – next to Chill Hookah Lounge). The man shot a gun that hit two parked vehicles (a 2002 Honda CRV and a 2018 Honda Odyssey).
The man drove away in an Acura ILX.

ShotSpotter is on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge

ShotSpotter is installed in neighborhoods where gunfire has been detected.
It’s that weird box on the streetlamp poles. People asked about them in Bay Ridge last year, but no one confirmed what they were. (See it here)
I didn’t realize ShotSpotter was on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge since 2019!
The Citizen App told us that a loud noise (either a gun or backfire from a car) was heard by the ShotSpotter.

O’Sullivan’s Bar in Bay Ridge is Still Open
O sully’s in Bay Ridge closed the dining area awhile ago. Some people thought that meant they were closed. The bar is still open on the weekends when everyone is around. It’s still a great place.
O’Sullivans is on 8902 3rd Avenue.

Around 8:00 pm tonight, there was a car collision on 76th Street between 4th and 5th Avenues. It says there were injuries. (See here)
