Carnicería Prime Rib (New Butcher Store) is Opening on 3rd Avenue

Carnicería Prime Rib hung an awning at 7214 3rd Avenue, next to Piccante Restaurant.

The word Carniceria means butcher shop.

This is not a good location for a butcher shop because well-known, Anthony’s Butcher is on the next block at 7324 3rd Avenue.

At the other end of the neighborhood there is no caniceria – why didn’t they open further down on the Avenue?

This storefront has been empty for a long time. It used to be the location for LE NAR HOOKAH & GRILL (See here)

Bishop Kearney Way Street Renaming Bay Parkway and 61st Street on 10/16

On Saturday, October 16th there will be a renaming for Bay Parkway and 61st Street. It will be renamed Bishop Kearney Way for the fantastic high school at 2202 – 60th Street, which educated thousands of women in Brooklyn for 58 years before closing in 2019. Many alumna of the school are planning to attend because the school and motto, “One a Kearney Girl Always a Kearney Girl” mean a lot to those who attended the school.

Sister Virginia Lake is going to be there!

This sign the Saint A’s shared, but 61st is the block, not 60th Street.

The Street Renaming Ceremony will have:

b) A Benediction and Blessing of the Sign by Monsignor Cassato

c) Sister Virginia Lake will speak

d) Unveiling of the new street sign, which has been deemed to Sister Virginia Lake.

Enough of the Trump flags – That’s Over With

We also don’t need more Democrats who can’t speak out against politicians in their party doing the wrong thing.

Politicians don’t understand that the 3rd Avenue Festival is for our neighborhood – not them.

Keep Your Children Close in Bay Ridge

Yesterday, a Bay Ridge mother reported that a man tried to take her two-year-old son from in front of their home near 69th Street and Narrows Avenue in the afternoon.

The mother shared that the man returned twice to her home and looked in her window.

The mother wrote that she filed a report with the NYPD.

Police and politicians should have shared that information with the community by now, but they must have forgot.

Bathroom at Russell Pedersen Playground

The bathroom at Russell Pederson playground at 84th Street in Bay Ridge is disgusting. It’s the playground near Fort Hamilton High School, so high school students use it, but there is no reason it should be this dirty and not maintained.

That is not a day or week’s worth of dirt in a bathroom.

The paint didn’t just fall off this wall – the wall was never painted correctly because no one is looking.

The man said he almost vommitted because the smell was so bad. He describe the bathroom as looking like a “third world prison.”

These are the bathrooms that children in our community have to use if they are at the park – that’s not right.
