Today there was a rally against the anti-Semitism in Bay Ridge last week.
in Bensonhurst Brooklyn NY. Activists against hate gather for a rally and was sparked after a Jewish man was attacked by 2 men for wearing an IDF shirt. attackers also called the man a Dirty jew during the attack .This rally was held by @InnaVernikov and @HikindDov #Jewish #NY pic.twitter.com/7PHJJbO3au
— Leeroy Johnson (@LeeroyPress) January 2, 2022
Councilmember Inna Vernikov, Dov Hikind and others said an attack on one is an attack on all. Blake, the man who was assaulted outside of Footlocker spoke in the video.
Thank you to all who joined us today to rally against antisemitism. It was especially heartwarming to see such a diverse turnout.
— Councilwoman Inna Vernikov (@InnaVernikov) January 2, 2022
Thank you to Chief Kemper @NYPDBklynSouth and the @NYPD62Pct for keeping us safe! pic.twitter.com/EEY2cH7uQh
They were chanting: “Jewish Lives Matter” (good chant) and “Jewish Blood Is Not Cheap.” (That didn’t sound too good).
Blake’s friend, Ilan Kaganovich spoke about the incident and how he wanted to help his friend.

There was a counter-protest by Jewish men who believe that Identifying with the IDF fuels Anti-semitism. (See photo shared by the Free Palestine account) The men chanted: Free, Free Palestine.
Normally, I like seeing this ultra Orthodox group of men supporting the Palestinians in Bay Ridge, but today they missed their opportunity to say: NO ONE DESERVES TO BE HIT FOR WEARING A PIECE OF CLOTHING.

January 1, 2022Mayor Adams’ First Day Brought Hope to NYC
Mayor Eric Adams spoke clearly and confidently, without notes, outside of the 103rd Precinct.
Adams promised the police that he would give them the tools and support they need, but abusive officers will not remain.

Adams’ newly appointed NYPD Commissioner, Keechant Sewell is like a breath of fresh air. NYPD Chief of Patrol, Juanita Holmes nodded along as Commissioner Sewell spoke. One thing she spoke about is that police officers should take a rest in their cars between tours when their days off are cancelled.

Adams had a televised speech today that didn’t compare to his speech outside the precinct. He read from a teleprompter and said things like GSD (for “get stuff done”). That staffer should be given a different task.

Mayor Adams rode the subway and reported an assaulted. (See story) This is the assault he saw:
Three men are fighting on the street in view of @NYCMayor at Kosciuszko J stop; he called 911 pic.twitter.com/CTgHODQuT7
— myles miller (@MylesMill) January 1, 2022
While on the train, he talked about the need to deal with the mental health issues and improve transportation.
Right after being sworn in, @ericadamsfornyc chooses the subway rather than jump into a taxpayer funded car caravan w/ security like @JumaaneWilliams or @bradlander would do (then gaslight us for “fearmongering”).He gets to see what we see every day. pic.twitter.com/KbRQ45KA0L
— Maria Danzilo (@Maria4Dist6) January 1, 2022
Other Democrats reached out to Mayor Adams and wished him success in making the city safer.
Congratulations @ericadamsfornyc on your inauguration as @NYCMayor! I wish you great success as you begin your work for a better, fairer, safer, stronger city for all New Yorkers.
— Bill Clinton (@BillClinton) January 1, 2022
The New York Times showed how disconnected they are from NYC, as they failed to mention Mayor Adams on the cover.

So many people are filled with hope for a better city.
Even a man in Coney Island at the Polar Bear Plunge was so joyful about Eric Adams taking office.
This is the 2022 energy I need in my life. *WAIT* until the end lol @NYCMayor @BKBoroHall Mayor Adams I highly recommend you watch #NYC #coneyisland #polarbearplunge #EricAdams pic.twitter.com/7N1R0nl5fM

January 1, 2022Fireworks Set Off Outside Brooklyn MDC Jail

I had no idea that there was an annual New Years Eve demonstration outside of the federal prison in Brooklyn (and in other places in the US too)
I’ve never seen a newspaper report about it in Brooklyn.

New Yorkers went to 29th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn and stood outside of MDC Prison making noising and set off fireworks for people being held there.

Those setting off the fireworks yelled, “Free them All.”
Those detained in the facility tapped on the windows and turned the lights on and off to signal to their friends that they saw the fireworks and join in the festivities from afar.
