Alvin Bragg was Recommended by Preet Bharara – Surprised to See This Headline

Alvin Bragg is the Manhattan District Attorney.
When he ran for office, Preet Bharara highly recommended him. We thought he would fight for NYC.
Alvin Bragg needs to do his job and stop trying to make the newspaper.
NYC needs to be secured before any plans to loosen the law.

January 3, 2022New Outdoor Covid Testing Site – 13th Avenue

We saw a new outdoor Covid testing site on 13th Avenue and 65th Street – across the street from the Funeral Home. (See street view map)

Only 5-7 people were at the white tent (some were workers).
It’s marked as a Covid Drive Thru, but we didn’t see anyone driving through this afternoon (this is the exit on 13th Avenue).

January 3, 2022Redistricting Was Done, But Governor Kathy Hochul Didn’t Like It. So Gerrymandering It Is.

Redistricting was paid for and completed.

But Governor Kathy Hochul didn’t like those plans so Hochul is allowing Democrats to draw the lines. (See here)
So Bay Ridge gets stuck in the gerrymandering nonsense once again! This time we are forced to be with parts of Industry City – notice the parts of Sunset Part cut out (check out that pink point created on the map), Park Slope and Downtown Brooklyn.

Here’s how we know we are being represented by the wrong people: Every politician from this area should be speaking out against this plan because they know it isn’t fair and our community has been grouped with others due to gerrymandering to benefit politicians and not the community.
By the way, I learned everything about gerrymandering from the crying Democrats who are in office (or work in those offices – Hello District Leader Chris McCreight) allowing gerrymandering for the Democrats.
Senator Andrew Gounardes is silent, as usual because gerrymandering would benefit him and get rid of Marine Park.

January 3, 2022Brooklyn Street Safety is Back to 2014 Levels

Brooklyn politicians who have claimed they have made “streets safer” are not telling us the truth.
Transalt shared this chart about street safety from 2014 – 2021. We are back to high fatality rates from 2014.
Why? There aren’t enough police on the road to regulate people.
People, including our politicians like Councilman Justin Brannan and NYC Comptroller Brad Lander don’t care and have been caught speeding by red light cameras. (Source and Source)
Previously NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams also did the same from 2018 – 2020. (Source and Source) Now the police drive him around. (Source)
We have heard some of the politicians label themselves “a champion of street safety.” There are no champions for street safety in Brooklyn.
In 2020, Senator Andrew Gounardes said, “We have to do better.” (Source) But he didn’t do anything differently to change the streets. He likes to tweet his sympathies for the children who died, but he doesn’t change the roads where children have died in this community.
Senator Gounardes was silent when his friends Brannan and Lander broke the law.

January 2, 2022NYC Councilmembers Show Up in Bay Ridge When the Response to Hate in Bay Ridge Was Not Adequate
Council members @SandyforCouncil & @tiffany_caban talk about why we’re canvassing in Bay Ridge and offering people tolls for how to look out for each other safely intervene to keep each other safe from harassment and hate violence. #NYCAgainstHate pic.twitter.com/TQNKtJj1gi
— Jews for Racial & Economic Justice (@JFREJNYC) January 2, 2022
Hate is hate. It doesn’t matter who is doing it – everyone needs to know its wrong.
Everyone should be speaking out against. Sadly, we see victim blaming and people changing the story.
Our politicians in Bay Ridge tweeted the day AFTER the incident happened in our community. It was shared in the newspaper and Governor Kathy Hochul called out the hate before any of our politicians mentioned it on Twitter.
Tweeting was all they did – they didn’t DO ANYTHING to let the community what happened and how to respond to acts of hate.
During election time, politicians wants to tell us they are against hate, but when it happens their response was next to nothing.
These politicians have already been elected – they aren’t here to play politics. They were in Bay Ridge speaking to people for five hours. Representatives from Jews for Racial & Economic Justice were also with the politicians. (See here)
Councilmember Shahana Hanif took won Brad Lander’s seat in Park Slope. She went to Bishop Kearney High School, so Brooklyn is important to her.
City Council member @ShahanaFromBK shares why she’s out canvassing about hate violence prevention, and why the political education & community organizing the #NYCAgainstHate coalition does is so important! Cc @antiviolence @DesisRisingUp @ArabAmericanNY pic.twitter.com/v6aOzXqNm8

On some of Shoshana’s tweets, the Arab American Association was tagged, but no one from there has spoken out about this.
