January 29, 2026Justin Brannan Downplayed NYC’s Budget Problem – 12 Billion Deficit

At the end of November 2025, Justin Brannan, NYC Council’s Finance head downplayed the huge deficit in NYC’s budget that Mayor Mandami is now facing. See his tweet from November 28th:

In June 2025, Justin Brannan said; “I’ve led the charge under the leadership of the speaker, as chair of the budget committee, to fight back against over $1 billion in cuts that the mayor tried to make. I don’t think there’s any disputing that I was the face of many of those fights because of my role in the City Council.” See here: https://shorturl.at/7Yd9n
Justin Brannan said in an interview with Ben Max that there was almost 9 million dollars in reserve.

In October 2024, Justin Brannan sent out this text:

Even Eric Adams called out Justin Brannan:
When the NYC budget went from $88.2B in 2021 to $116 in 2025, why didn’t Justin Brannan help make cuts and call out the spending?
Now Mamdani is interested in raising taxes.

It says on the wealthiest NY’ers, but our property taxes were increased.

Brannan shared that he clawed back on the budget cuts. See video:

Ten NY’ers froze to death. Now the finger-pointing will happen. The reality is that people can’t live outdoors. And the news can’t justify it by saying they had drug use or health issues:

January 27, 2026Coney Island – Important Meeting 1/30

Community Board 13 is having meeting at Coney Island Hospital at 2601 Ocean Parkway on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm to discuss rezoning for this huge property planned for 2950 West 24th Street.
This is already a large development that they want to make larger, but this location has a lot of reported problems (mold, plumbing issues, ventilation problems, and rodent activity). See:

Why does Coney Island need to keep fighting? Because some idiot thought they wouldn’t. See the rezoning paperwork:

January 27, 2026Ridgites Didn’t Get Help With Snow on Corners and Bus Stops

Photo: Anna P.
Brooklynites headed back to school and work today, but the city wasn’t ready. Streets weren’t fully cleared and sidewalks, especially at the corners had a lot of snow.

Photo: Anna P.
People reached out to Kayla Santosuosso. Santosuosso messaged on social media saying she contacted DSNY, but most blocks didn’t receive any help for their snowy corners.

The above pictures were taken outside the new Councilwoman’s office. People didn’t think Santosuosso or her staff did a good job clearing the bus stop. One kind resident offered to shovel tomorrow.
On Monday, both Santosuosso and Andrew Gounardes’ office “were remote.” The pandemic ended years ago, but some politicians don’t get it!
Councilwoman Susan Zheng’s office offered volunteers to help with snow. When more people asked for help than they had volunteers, Susan and her staff went to homes and helped the seniors! That’s someone who enjoys helping people!
