December 17, 2025IS 30 Curriculum in the News – Not Accurate

Republican Elise Stefanik is falsely accusing Kathy Hochul of spending one million dollars on Qater’s curriculum and teaching materials for IS 30 in Bay Ridge and other schools in NYC. See news: https://is.gd/zVmL56
Yes, the Qatar Foundation has provided funding to IS 30 (and other NYC public schools) for Arabic programs.

The funding came the Qatar Foundation International, not from the New York State government.
Councilman Justin Brannan and Senator Andrew Gounardes love to go off on Republican politicians on social media, but neither politician has mentioned the inaccuracy in the NY Post’s story because they probably don’t know the curriculum and can’t answer all of Stefanik’s questions, so they just stayed silent as usual. See her questions to Gov. Hochul:

Senator Andrew Gounardes made a goofy video about AI with Assemblyman Alex Bores. Bores has a degree in CS, so I am surprised he wouldn’t have told Gounardes to make a better video.
Gounardes RAISE bill was gutted and Andrew Gounardes stayed silent because he can’t speak out against Kathy Hochul. Read about it here:
