Brannan & Gounardes Are Unable to Get NYC to Fix the Sewer on 10th Avenue – It’s YEARS Later

In 2023, Justin Brannan and Andrew Gounardes has The Brooklyn Reported share that a 51 Million in capital funds was set aside for the 10th Avenue Sewer Project in Dyker Heights. The sewers can’t handle the water and it was backing up into the residents homes.

Last week, at the Community Board 10 Meeting, Brad, a Dyker Heights resident returned again to say that the project has never been started and he is still cleaning the sewer water from his basement after rainstorms.

Brad also spoke about his neighbors, who are in their 80’s and aren’t able to do all that cleaning. You can see Brad speak at 20:15:

Neither Councilman Brannan or Senator Gounardes shared any information about the sewer problem on any of their social media. Brannan is busy posting nonsense videos for his employee, Kayla Santosuosso – please vote against her because this group of friends is not helping residents in this district.

The Brooklyn Reporter and Brooklyn Paper don’t find this story newsworthy so it wasn’t in the news. Press release politics is hurting out community. The journalist, Jada Camille writes the stories that the politicians send press releases about. It’s easier than coming out to Dyker Heights and attending a meeting or speaking with the residents. Press release politics hurts our community.

In 2022, about forty residents from 10th Avenue between 77th Street to 86th Street showed up at a Community Board 10 meeting because no o their basements were flooding each time it rained. I wrote them here:

Everyone in the community believes this project was completed because Community Board 10 never mentioned it and neither did Councilman Justin Brannan or Senator Andrew Gounardes.

CB 10’s manager and the former head of CB 10 didn’t want to discuss things. Do you realize CB 10 never mentioned these topics again:

1) The men’s homeless shelter at 6530 – 4th Avenue. They told the residents in the towers that there would be a meeting – there never was.

2) The high school on Ovington Avenue (How is it possible that this location was chosen when there is only one street for an exit?)

3) The pickleball courts that Brooklyn residents asked for at several Community Board 10 meetings.

4) The squatters on 73rd Street were never mentioned at any Community Board 10 meeting, but Gounardes, Brannan and Josephine all knew about the squatters for a long time. Why didn’t CB 10 members talk about it? No newspaper ever reported it.

5) The sewers on 10th Avenue

The manager of CB 10 thinks we need social media and a newsletter that doesn’t contain information about important topics in this community. Why aren’t the CB 10 members speaking out about providing the community real updates?

Can you imagine if Mrs. Gounardes or Mrs. Brannan had to clean sewer sludge from the basements of their new homes every time there was a strong rainstorm.

Please share this story with your neighbors so people go out and vote. Kayla Santosuosso said she knows who to call – obviously none of them know who to call BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THEY ALL AVOIDED TALKING ABOUT IT AND PROVIDING UPDATES TO OUR COMMUNITY. Let’s get people who want to fight for this community and get Dyker Heights residents help!

To Brad, his wife and the Dyker Heights residents – we are sorry you are going through this. Each month, I will be talking about the sewer in Dyker Heights on this blog. I hope some decent people on CB 10 will stand up at the meeting and ask for an update on this project EACH month so politicians and CB 10 take it more seriously.

Little Girl Lost in Dyker Heights

Sharing this:

Is anyone missing a female child about 8-9 years old? She was wearing pink pajama pants, a furry sweater, brown hair, Caucasian, and about 4.5 ft tall. She was last seen on 13th Avenue and 76th street in front of Dunkin’ Donuts.

She does not have any belongings and was sitting outside on the street by herself. When approached by a concerned Dunkin worker she ran away scared.

Are Democrats Suing Over the Congressinal District Because They Can’t Beat Malliotakis?

I have spoken out strongly against our gerrymandered NYC Council seat and our NYS Senate seat.

Democrats in Bay Ridge don’t care about gerrymandering. No one from the Bay Ridge Democrats has spoken out against gerrymandering in years.

Today, the news announced that four people are suing over Congressional District 11. Who are they? Two peopler are from Staten Island and two people are from Manhattan. See article:

https://ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2025/10/27/new-york-district-11-congressional-lines-lawsuit

They want to redraw District 11 and put Staten Island with Manhattan, so that black andd hispanic voters have more of a voice. Don’t they know Nicole Malliotakis is Hispanic?

Here’s the petition with their names:

https://www.democracydocket.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/2025-10-27-Petition.pdf

1) José Ramírez-Garofalo, a Staten Island resident. This guy has spoken out against many things – he’s the real deal.

https://www.silive.com/opinion/columns/2025/06/a-staten-islanders-demand-can-our-mayoral-candidates-stop-making-this-borough-a-punchline.html

2) Aixa Torres – a Manhattan resident in a video with Brad Lander. See:

3) Melissa Cartyshe’s in Deborah Glick’s district in Manhattan:

https://results.elections.ny.gov/candidate/13617

4)Michael Williams

Last year, Justin Brannan explored a run for Congress against Malliotakis. We knew he was going to challenge her because he couldn’t win. See:

https://www.silive.com/politics/2025/07/brooklyn-elected-official-floats-possible-run-against-rep-malliotakis.html

Our state senate district was badly gerrymandered. Why isn’t anyone speaking up for the Hispanic voters in Sunset Park?

NYC Retirees or Those Near Retirement – Vote Against Zohran Mamdani

Both Sliwa and Cuomo met with Marianne of the NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees. Zohran Mamdani did not.

The people who worked in this city for years know how to rock the vote. If NYC retirees aren’t important to Zohran Mamdani, then he doesn’t deserve to be mayor. News:

NYC Marathon in Bay Ridge – November 2, 2025

The NYC Marathon will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

The runners start in Staten Island and travel over the Verrazzano Bridge to get to Bay Ridge.

(See the whole map here)

Fifty thousand people will be running through 4th Avenue from around 9:00 am to around 4:00 pm.

What streets are closed in Bay Ridge? From 6:00 am – 6:00 pm these streets are closed:

When does the Verrazzano Bridge close?

Every runner is given a color – blue, orange or pink and that determines what streets they are running on.

What time do the first runners come into Bay Ridge?

There are the waves of runners:

  • 8:00 a.m. Professional Wheelchair Division
  • 8:22 a.m. Handcycle and Select Athletes with Disabilities
  • 8:35 a.m. Women’s Open Division
  • 9:05 a.m.  Men’s Open Division
  • 9:10 a.m. Wave 1
  • 9:45 a.m. Wave 2
  • 10:20 a.m. Wave 3
  • 10:55 a.m. Wave 4
  • 11:30 a.m. Wave 5

On Saturday, November 1st – Parking signs will be put up. If you car is parked on 4th Avenue or any street that was needed for the marathon, your car has been relocated to a nearby street. You can search for your car’s location here.

How can I get around with a car in Bay Ridge?

If you need to get around on Sunday, November 2ndf, put your car below 4th Avenue on Saturday, November 1st. Then you can travel across 2nd Avenue to get to places in Brooklyn.

If you can avoid driving on the Belt, avoid it.  The Belt Parkway is open, but in previous years the police closed Exit 2 because it cars were backed up on the highway.  Exit 1 on the Belt was open.

Third Avenue is open, but  there is usually more traffic because 4th is closed.

Trains are not affected by the marathon, so you can cross underground at subway stations.

How can I walk across 4th Avenue where the runners are?

People just wait for a time when there are no runners and then they cross the street (but if it is a busy time during the marathon, that might not happen for a little bit). See the picture above shows a Father and children booking across the street during the marathon. Below is a man briskly walking while there are no runners.

OR

You can go to the subway station, go down the stairs, walk across and up the other stairs. You can do this at the 95th Street, 86th Street, 77th Street and Bay Ridge Avenue stations.

Where’s a good place to stand in Bay Ridge to watch the Marathon?

Anywhere on 4th Avenue is good. Many people love being near 92nd or 79th Streets to welcome the runners. The people on 79th Street are so spirited!!

1) The first band is The Tash Brothers outside of Bay Ridge Honda on 4th Avenue and 88th Street starting at 8:00 am.

Some people like being near St. Anselm school near the water tables – 4th Avenue and 83rd Street.

The best signs can be seen down in Sunset Park – near the Irish Have – 58th and 4th Avenue.

John Rafferty will be playing outside of The Irish Haven starting at 8:00 am.

After the Marathon:

Halloween Festival in Owls Head Park in Bay Ridge October 26, 2025

Today is the free Halloween Festival in Owls Head Park on Colonial Road and 68th Street from 12:00 – 4:00 pm.

No politicians should be electioneering at this event paid for by our tax dollars. Free means it is free of political pests.

Last year, Andrew Gounardes and Kayla Santosuosso thought it was okay to give parents palm cards while they were enjoying time with their children. A photojounalist filmed them:

If the Halloween Event at Owls Head Park is for Andrew Gounardes and Chris McCreight to Campaign – Why Are Our Tax Dollars Being Used?

If you see political pests – take a photo and send it to me. Parents shouldn’t be tricked into attending a political event with their children.
