Max Rose Didn’t Support Bay Ridge Businesses During the Pandemic. He Thinks You Don’t Know.

Max Rose is running for office again. He didn’t do anything to help small businesses at the start of the pandemic when he was the Congressman.

Many businesses in Bay Ridge have closed. Rose didn’t offer any support to them.

Businesses aren’t resilient – some are just hanging in and holding onto hope for better days.

Enough of the picture-taking politicians!

We are MAXed out.

Bay Ridge Parks Don’t Like Politics

Luke shared the photo taken in Bay Ridge above. Usually he has beautiful photos of the neighborhood.

This is the type of message that is better on t-shirts and hats, so like-minded people can find each other and yuck it up together.

Leave the politics out of the parks.

RIP MaryAnn Walsh – Bay Ridge Civic Leader

MaryAnn Walsh loved Bay Ridge. She lived on 76th Street and was my friend’s neighbor. Years ago, w tree fell on their block and MaryAnn wanted the Parks Department to replace it. The story made it to the paper. (See here)

MaryAnn was a member of the Bay Ridge Community Council since the 70’s. I remember her giving out the Kassenbrock Brothers Scholarship Money. She was also on Community Board 10 for many years.

MaryAnn died on February 17th – she was 80 years old. She was a beautiful person, who loved people and this community!

Her wake is on Tuesday, February 22nd 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm. at the McLaughlin Funeral Home. (Info)

Mass – Our Lady of Angels Church on Wednesday, February 23rd at 10:30 am.

Prayers for her son, daughter and grandchildren.

Man With 51 Arrests Hit a 4-Year-Old in NYC

Yesterday, Babacar Mbaye hit a four-year old in Times Square. The child’s mother, Rafaela Rivera pulled Mbaye to the ground and held him until the police came. (Story)

Babacar Mbaye is 34 years old and has been arrested in NYC 51 times.

How many innocent people will this man get to hurt before Senator Andrew Gounardes does something about the broken bail reform system he voted for?

On February 2nd, Babacar Mbaye was arrested for punching a woman on the subway and was released without bail.

On January 20th he was arrested for punch and kicking a woman

On August 21st, he was arrested for kicking a woman.

How did this man fall between the cracks of the system? He wasn’t provoked and choose women and now a child to target.

Malliotakis & Lee Zedin Rally Against Bail Reform

Nicole Malliotakis and Lee Zedin were in Sunset Park rallying with the people against bail reform. They Asian American community has called for the govenment to make NYC safer.

*Lee Zedin is running for governor on the issue of safety (his site). He is also promising property tax reform.

Malliotakis has spoken out against bail reform for years and needs some partners to make changes to the system.

Bail reform was made so teens would not be caught in the system, but it has also allowed repeat offenders. There is a way to correct bail reform to stop its abuse. (It’s not an either or situation as the politicians are making it out to be.)

Peter Abbate was at the rally. While Abbate has bill to reform bail, the bill didn’t go anywhere because he didn’t do anything to move the bill. (See here)

Peter Abbate also endorsed Andrew Gounardes, a Bail Reform supporter in the senate!

Iwen Chu is speaking out against bail reform?

Iwen Chu stood behind Andrew Gounardes (Photo source). Why didn’t she speak out against Gounardes’ support for bail reform?

Chu didn’t tell the Asian Community that Gounardes voted for bail reform and continued to support bail reform when people asked for changes to it.

Gounardes has refused to make any changes to the bail system. Even after Eric Adams called for reform, Gounardes didn’t do anything. Sadly, Gounardes did not stand up for the community.
