Brooklynites Hurt in the Subway Shooting

This morning the N Train, which has the mass shooting, was coming from South Brooklyn. Many of the people that were hurt are from our area.

There were 21 adults that were treated at NYU Langone. Sixteen people were treated and released. Five people still remain at the hospital for treatment.

Maimonides Hospital has a pediatric unit, so the five children were brought to 4802 – 10th Avenue. The students were ages 12 – 18.

The 12 year old and 13 year old were there for smoke inhalation and were released.

Two male teens are still at the hospital. One of them was an 18- year-old college student, who was shot in the leg. He is waiting to go into surgery tonight.

The other teen was 16-years-old. He was shot in the hand. His Mother did not speak any English (she said her son was everything and she recently lost her job so she is seeking a position as a homecare aide).

Everyone on the train is lucky to be alive and we are glad you are!

Bay Ridge Politicians Fail to Help Residents Get Home Tonight

This morning around 8:30 am on a Manhattan Bound N train, a heavyset man wearing a construction vest put on a gas mask while he was in the second car on the N train. As the train pulled into the 36th Street Station, he lit a smoke bomb and started shooting.

Ten people were shot – five suffered critical injuries, but they are not life threatening (Proceed with caution: Video here, photo here and video from the N train, Scary view: from another train car). This photo is awful, but look at all the people helping the victims.

Five hours later, Senator Andrew Gounardes spoke on camera.

It’s 6:00 pm and the shooter has not been caught. Why did Gounardes speak out about a gun from out-of-state?

When a Bay Ridge business owner was shot, Andrew Gounardes did nothing. The owner of Fire Kebob on 86th Street in Bay Ridge went to the news because not one politician spoke to him about the shooting and he wanted the neighborhood to be aware of what happened. (Info here)

Senator Gounardes had a whole day to figure out how to help Bay Ridge residents get home as the R train was not running down here.

Andrew knew the R Train was not running and he did not get the Express Bus or another mode of transportation setup for residents.

May be an image of text that says 'PIXO YORK'S NEWYORK'SVERYOWN VERY OWN E c B J W D R N 4 5 SUBWAY LINES IMPACTED BY BROOKLYN SHOOTING: Expect delays on: E, J, Northbound C, Northbound 4 and 5 trains Limited service for D and N trains No R service between Whitehall St. Ferry and Bay Ridge-95 St. B and w trains are suspended'

People caught onto Gounardes’ campaign pandering and called it out on social media:

Justin Brannan could have called the MTA and set up buses for tonight’s commute, but he didn’t do anything but tweet. #Useless

Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus announced yesterday that she has Covid-19 so she won’t be able to help.

Expedia Cruise Ship Center in Bay Ridge Closed

Travel hasn’t been popular since the pandemic started. Expedia Cruises has been in Bay Ridge since 2017. They lasted most of the pandemic.

We saw the empty storefront at 7618 – 3rd Avenue and For Lease sign. Travel agents don’t really need a storefront to do business. Karina is still a cruise agent – see here.
