PO Aziz Took on the Shooter Outside 7 Eleven Earlier This Month

Last week, we all heard about the incident that happened outside of the 7 Eleven next to the 68th Precinct. Two men in their twenties had a conflict while driving on 4th Avenue that ended with one of the men being shot in the butt. (Story here)

The Precinct didn’t tell share how Police Officer Aziz’s swift actions took down the shooter!
Senator Andrew Gounardes and Councilman Justin Brannan both knew and didn’t share this information with the community. Gounardes has honored people for doing far less. Brannan didn’t share this heroinism on social media or honor the officer in a press release to the paper. The politician’s jobs are to act as liaisons between the precinct and community.
Captain Tolson told the community about the incident when he was asked about it by a resident (he didn’t offer it at the start of the meeting). Tolson said that when the commotion started on April 4th, Police Officer Aziz ran out of the 68th Precinct, confronted the shooter and held him at gunpoint. His swift actions are the reason Jose Ochoa was immediately arrested.
Police Officer Aziz will be honored as the Officer of the Month this month. (I hope I spelled his name correctly.)
In a time when politicians want to use the words, “Defunding the Police,” the precinct’s social media posters should be sharing stories of officers who are doing what they love and protecting this community.

April 13, 2022Why Did Andrew Gounardes Post a Photo of Himself At a Train Station This Morning?

Andrew Gounardes was slammed on social media for using the tragedy of the shooting at 36th Street for a photo opt when he should be working to make Brooklyn safer. (See here)
Gounardes failed to tell Bay Ridge about the Attack at the 86th Street station last month. (See here)
Yesterday, Senator Gounardes did nothing to help Bay Ridge residents to get home – he just wanted to be on the news. (See here)
This afternoon, the Sunset Park shooter was arrested.
The news is saying the three cameras at the 36th Street train station don’t work, but the rest of the cameras in NYC subway stations do. Why didn’t Gounardes look into that? (See here)

The news is saying the shooter called in a tip about himself. The news is also saying the man below saw the shooter walking around and called the police.

April 13, 2022Houari From Bay Ridge Was Shot on The Train

Twenty-seven year old, Houari Benkada of Bay Ridge sat across from the shooter on the N Train. Houari Benkada was on his way to work at the New Yorker Hotel.
When the smoke bomb went off, Houari went to protect a pregnant woman from being trampled. He was then shot in the back of the knee. (Source)

Benkada was one of the first of ten people to be shot. He was operated on and is expected to undergo another operation this week.

Benkada said when he returns to work, he will drive. (Source)
We are glad Houari is alive! We hope his recovery is fast and his pain lessens each day.
It’s no mistake that those on that train weren’t killed because they are here for an important reason.

Hounari told News 12 he is lucky to be alive. “I am blessed to be here, to be honest, I could’ve been gone.”
