20 Year Old Man Hit on Shore Road and 71st St

Yesterday morning, a 20-year-old man was hit by a car on Shore Road and 72nd Street around 7:00 am.

The driver didn’t stop and drove away while the man he hit was on the street. An ambulance took the seriously injured man to the hospital. Hopefully, he is okay.

Residents have complained that the area is dangerous because cars speed up on the turn on 73rd Street. A red light camera is there, but that doesn’t help.

Birdhouse In A Tree in Bay Ridge….Not Any More

Some sweet Ridgite put a cute cottage bird house on a mature tree.

The key word in that sentence is ‘mature.’ Putting a nail or screw into a tree will create a small wound, but nothing a strong tree couldn’t heal. If a nail was put into a small, young tree it would be like a wound and hurt the tree. (Yes, I love trees).

On social media, someone shared that the birdhouse had to be removed because someone complained. Where’s that person who complained? Come clean my windows!

Power Outage Hurt South Brooklyn Foundry

There was a power outage last week at South Brooklyn Foundry at 6909 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge. We didn’t hear about it, but we saw the wiring outside.

Con Edison ran temporary lines outside their place. (See news video below)

Hopefully, Con Ed will reimburse them for the replacement food they needed to purchase.

South Brooklyn Foundry is one of our places – Lee and I have such good conversations there. It’s a nice atmosphere and they make great drinks.

Why Didn’t Max Rose Didn’t Speak Out About An AR-15 Used by a Man in Dyker Heights?

After the school shooting in Texas, many Brooklyn politicians took to Twitter to add their two cents. I noticed Max Rose tweeted this:

Where was Max Rose when a man on 82nd Street between 13th and 14th Avenue in Dyker Heights opened fire at his neighbors with an AR-15 in January 2020? (Info here)

Covid hadn’t started back then, so Dyker Heights should have seen Max Rose in their community.

Our community was lucky to not this shooting incident happened at 12:30 am (January 7th). We are lucky it didn’t happen during the day because St. Bernadette’s School is right there.

The man fired 29 rounds with the AR-15. Not one politician in this area took action that day or after.

The man who fired rounds at is neighbors’ homes didn’t go to jail. Max Rose never called for him to be prosecuted either. Max Rose didn’t take action for Brooklyn – don’t vote for him.

Another Empty Storefront – 86th St. in Bay Ridge

This law office has been on 86th Street forever. Sad to see another empty spot.

The number in the window goes to another law firm on 18th Avenue, which appears to be the family. (See here)

Update: Puma is Back With His Family

Good news – Puma is back with his family.

His owner wrote:

Someone living in Queens Village (40 min drive from Bay Ridge) tried to steal him by picking him up from his neighborhood.

Apparently Puma managed to escape and a very nice lady saw him at her front door.

She got him in and immediately called the number on his collar.

Thank you all for the time dedicated and all your efforts…

Now my heart is full again.

Puma is a Bay Ridge cat that went missing this week.

If you were the nice person who took the friendly cat in, please bring him back.

This striped cat has people who know him and love him. Puma’s family misses him. 917-285-4817
