Ari Kagan Cleans Up 86th Street in Brooklyn – Round 1
Update: Kagan has repeated cleanups in this area and things are looking a lot better – hooray!
Councilman Ari Kagan wrote that he cleaned up 86th Street. (See here)
He shared some photos that looked too good to be true.
If you go to 86th Street, this is what it looks like:
Yes, the ground is a little cleaner from the much-needed powerwash, but all the vendors are still all over the place.
Kagan is new to the position. He should realize that this area had been let to decline by his predecessor and Diane Savino doesn’t live in Brooklyn, so she didn’t care how it looked.

Bay Ridge Memorial Day Parade · May 29, 2023
At 10:00 am on Shore Road and 81st Street is a POW/MIA Flag Presentation before the Memorial Day Parade (if you never saw it before, it is worth seeing).
At 11:00 am, on Memorial Day, Monday May 29, 2023, the Bay Ridge Memorial Day Parade will start on 3rd Avenue and 78th Street.
The parade will run along 3rd Avenue to Marine Avenue, up to 4th Avenue then over to John Paul Jones Park on 101st Street for the annual memorial service immediately following the parade that features a wreath laying by Veteran Service Organizations, the raising of our nations flag, a 21-gun salute and the playing of Taps.
The Leif Bar at 6725 5th Avenue is having a barbecue at 2:00 pm on Monday.
Everyone is invited – come cheer for the Veteran’s in the parade! They love it when people clap and cheer as their vehicles pass.

RIP Rose Gargano – Bay Ridge
This is so sad: Yesterday around 3:40 pm, Rose Gargano lost control of her vehicle on 3rd Avenue and 52nd Street in Sunset Park. (Source)
Her 2020 Range Rover crashed into a column. She was unconscious and brought to NYU (Lutheran) Hospital.
It was a bad accident – seen here, here and here Something must have happened on that road that caused her to swerve. The news said it was possibly a medical episode. (Source)
Rose was 70 years old and lived in Bay Ridge. This accident happened about two miles from her home. This is terrible and so sad.
Prayers for Rose Gargano’s sons – they have been through so much. (See here, here, and here).

This small dog was found on Bay Parkway & 81st Street in Brooklyn.
The person who found the dog took it to be scanned and the dog does not have a chip.

Republicans Can Rock the Democratic Primary in NYC – New Rules Due to Redistricting
Hey Republicans,
Did you know that you can vote in the upcoming Senate Democrat primary from August 13th to August 21st?
Due to redistricting, you can go to the voting center, change your party THAT DAY and submit an affidavit ballot to vote against the champion of bail reform, Andrew Gounardes. (Information)
You can change your party back the next day.
Now I know for some Republicans, they wouldn’t want to be a Democrat – even for a short time. This message is not for you, Ted.
But I am thinking there are a lot of home owners who would love to vote against Gounardes. For anyone who is tired of Andrew’s broken promises and wants to do something about it….come and rock the vote in the Democratic primary.
Andrew Gounardes voted to gerrymander this community to help him and his friend, Max Rose win their seats. Andrew could have done the right thing and made a fair district, but he joined his friends in Albany and didn’t care about residents in this district.
David Yassky is a moderate Democrat. His responses on social media show he’s rationale and a common sense Democrat. That’s exactly what we need.
David Yassky isn’t going to play on social media and he isn’t afraid to tell Brannan he’s wrong (See here)
On television, one candidate in the upcoming primary was asked how he felt about Republicans voting in the Democratic primary and he was so upset. LOL! I’m a Democrat and I invite you to come Rock the Vote, Bay Ridge!

Was An Officer Assaulted at Walgreens in Bay Ridge Early This Morning?
Right before 5:00 am, the Citizen app reported that an officer was assaulted at Walgreens on 3rd Avenue and 95th Street.
It says the suspect got away. (Source)

Kingsborough Community College is having a clothing drive for professional apparel that is in new or gently used condition. Drop off in room C-102 or F-206.
They need cleaqn suits, ties, skirts, blouses, dress, shirts, belts, shoes, briefcases and handbags.

Shots Fired in Gravesend – NYPD Searching
Around 10:00, police went to Avenue T and found out that a man and woman were in a dispute. Police found shell casings on the ground. ShotSpotter detected nine possible sounds of gunfire. (Source)
They are checking the hospital. Hopefully, it was someone with bad aim.
Around the same time, a man fired many bullets in Sheepshead Bay. One bullet hit a woman in the leg – source
