St. John’s University in SI Closing in 2024

St. John’s University will close the Staten Island campus in the Spring of 2024.

The school is closing due to low enrollment. Journalist Bill Miller wrote that there was a 63% drop in enrollment over 22 years. (Source)

The pandemic certainly didn’t help the problem. “At St. John’s Staten Island campus, enrollment tumbled from 2,309 undergraduate and graduate students in fall 2000 to 861 students in fall 2021.” (Source)

This year will be the last year that they are taking a freshman class. They will need to finish their degree at the Queens campus.

I know so many people in Brooklyn who graduated from St. John’s University in Staten Island.

Assemblyman Michael Tannousis and others want to keep the Staten Island campus open.

Joe Borelli Explains the NYC Property Tax Rebate

NYC is sending $100 – $150 dollar rebate to home owners. Most home owners in Bay Ridge are shaking their heads because NYS politicians, like Andrew Gounardes, Mathylde Frontus and Michael Tannousis have been unwilling to fix the disproportionate property taxes.

People thought that since Brannan was a new home owner, he would understand what needed to be done. Brannan gets caught up in taking a photo and doing a press release.

Joe Borelli explained that he didn’t want NYC’s surplus money to go to a social justice program:

This is a city for lobbyists so not a single person working NYC’s government cares that certain communities are overpaying taxes. Politicians promise to help so they can get our votes, but then they don’t want to do the work.

Crazy Brainy at 8418 5th Avenue closed. This store opened in March this year.

This was a bargain bin store. It was supposed to sell items that were returned from other stores.

.

The concept was good, but the store wasn’t stocked with a lot of useable items.

Why Did Rich Calder Write About A Non-Existent NYC Bill About Catalytic Converters?

On August 20th, Rich Calder, a journalist for the NY Post wrote about a bill that doesn’t exist. Didn’t Calder have anything else to write about during election week other than a bill that Brannan may submit someday?

As of 8/24/22, Brannan doesn’t have a bill in NYC Council about the catalytic converters.

The bill Rich Calder describes doesn’t seem to tackle the problem as those who steal the catalytic converters will cross over to NJ and sell it there.

Police aren’t going to be able to enforce this bill in Brooklyn because they aren’t going to chase thieves.

Politicians asking reporters to write about bills that don’t exist is strange.

Big Chief Removed the Chief Head And Sent Out Love to Bay Ridge

BigChiefxNYC is a new shop that opened on the corner of 3rd Avenue and 74th Street. They had a painting of a chief head that matched their products.

They wrote on Facebook today: “Due to the controversy from the community we’ve decided to take the chief head down.

Our intentions were not to insult or disrespect anyone and we apologize greatly.”

#Weloveyoubayridge #BayRidgeStrong

#PeaceLoveAndHarmony #SpreadLoveitsBayRidgeWay

*This was a very nice thing for them to do and showed they want to be part of the community. And obviously there are a lot of people in this area who want their product.

Update: Someone should have smoked their peace pipe, rather than put up a message on Insta.

Great business move because social media is buzzing about this store and who liked the chief and who didn’t. Now everyone knows where this shop is in Bay Ridge.

BTW, they give military discounts.
