Plaka Restaurant on 86th Street Closed
Vicki served her last gyro last night and closed Plaka Restaurant for the last time.
Vicki was in business in Bay Ridge for 25 years! That is an amazing accomplishment. She will be missed by many loyal customers.
Happy retirement, Vicky!

Today, Louie’s Gyros pulled out the grill and was giving everyone free hotdogs. Louie also had a great DJ playing music all afternoon.
Parents of trick-or-treaters were relieved they didn’t have to go home and cook dinner. Play this video:

October 31, 2022People Went All Out On Halloween So Kids Have Sweet Memories
The clown home in Dyker Heights had many visitors.
Halloween is a kids holiday. It’s low stress and a day kids can get a lot of candy from their neighbors. To all the the people who decorate your homes and give out candy, those kids will remember you for years to come! And they will carry on the tradition for the next generation.

October 31, 2022Woman Shot Man Dead – Brooklyn 5:20 pm
Around 5:20 pm tonight, a man and woman were shot multiple times outside of 2932 Avenue V in Sheepshead Bay. (See News)
The 19-year-old woman was shot in the leg and stomach.
The 29-year-old man was shot in the chest and butt. He died.
The shooter took off in a white van. It’s Halloween and kids are walking around trick-or-treating. Luckily no one else was hit by the bullet.

October 30, 2022Iwen Chu Brought Hotel Workers to Campaign
Some people with Hotel shirts showed up in Brooklyn to campaign with Iwen Chu.
I went to their website – the Hotel and Gaming Workers (see here).
Their website shows a map with dots for where they are located – none are on our neighborhood.
These people aren’t here on a Sunday for no reason.
While we were told by Councilman Brannan that the mayor is no longer using hotels for homeless people, the mayor has needed to use hotels all over NYC for asylum seekers. (See here and here)
We don’t need hotels or casinos here. Vote for Vito LaBella, Brooklyn!
Why didn’t Abbate speak out against the hotel on 86th Street? Neither Peter Abbate or Andrew Gounardes spoke out against the hotel on 86th Street.
