Just before 8:00 am this morning, a white Toyota Corolla crashed into a tree on 65th Street and 4th Avenue on the road to the Belt Parkway in Bay Ridge. The car was engulfed in flames. (Info)

Three people died (two women and one man). How awful for their families and friends to hear this today.

Channel 1 News and AM News said that one person was taken to NYU Langone hospital, (Source) while Channel 11 said, “one person refused treatment.” (Source)

(AM News)

There were no other cars involved. (See video from Citizen)

This Toyota Corolla had a for-hire vehicle license plate and had 43 traffic violations since 2016, including four red light tickets and eleven school zone speed camera violations.(Source)

Great Bay Ridge Story – Too Good Not to Share

This story was shared with me and is too good not to share!

A Ridgite took to Facebook because she lost her diamond engagement ring. This woman was carrying the ring in a pouch in her pocket because one of the prongs was missing on the ring. When she got home, she noticed she lost the pouch, so she retraced her steps. (Story shared here)

She found the empty pouch on 3rd Avenue and 88th Street.

The engagement ring was set in her grandmother’s band and had a lot of sentimental value.

Marianne, a really nice woman in Bay Ridge, went to 3rd Avenue and asked to see the camera footage outside of the businesses. She took a photo of the people who found the photo and then shared the photo on Facebook. Another person knew the people and theyn were able to locate that person who picked up the ring and return the ring to the Ridgite who lost it!

WOW! That story looked hopeless to many, but not Marianne! She took action because she wanted to help!

May everyone be as lucky to know someone like Marianne – she’s the human-version of St. Anthony!

Why Do Bay Ridge Politicians Keep Bringing in Competition to Our Existing Businesses?

Years ago, organic produce was not available in many stores in Bay Ridge. But now organic produce is sold in many stores in the area.

It’s weird that Brannan makes graphics like this is something he started. Vinnie Gentile had the market, when he was in office because back then there was not a lot of organic produce being sold in our area.

I don’t understand why these politicians think it is okay to bring in competitors against existing businesses.

Senator Andrew Gounardes also supported a business, which is competing with existing Bay Ridge Businesses. GetAround Car Sharing. (Info here) Bay Ridge has at least two car sharing companies in the area who are paying rent in the old Century parking lot. (Info here)

How do we get politicians to help our local businesses and stop bringing in more competition to undercut them?

Are You Hear Booming Party Music in Bay Ridge?

Last night residents living in the 70’s to the 90’s on blocks near the water in Bay Ridge heard booming music.

The music was so loud, it sounded like it was coming from a neighbor’s backyard, but it is actually coming from Staten Island.

Some residents on Shore Road complained about their windows shaking from the vibration of the bass music.

Last year, residents complained and Brannan said the usual, “I’m on it.” But he wasn’t actually on it. Councilman Brannan was calling the NYPD and neither the pols or the police located the source of the music.

Finally, a sleep deprived resident in Bay Ridge drove over to Staten Island and found the source of the music. (Info)

This is an election year, so the Councilman can’t just say “On it” and do nothing about it.

Dyker Heights – 13th Avenue and 83rd Street

The empty lot on the corner of 13th Avenue and 83rd Street – across from St. Bernadette Church sold in October for $2,550,000.

A large three family home was at 1302 – 83rd Street. See more pictures of this Dyker Heights property here.

The property is now owned by Dyker Development LLC.

Residents speculated on what was going to be built there.

Neighbors are keeping their eyes open because they realize no one is going to tell them when a building plan has been submitted for the neighborhood (like this one for 86th Street).

Many believe it will be condos, like the ones across from the Post Office on 84th Street & 13th Avenue. They are the 3-story condos with balconies. (Old photo from 2022 below)

There isn’t a lot of plans posted yet, but it says 28-101.4.5which means it will be a larger building.

Proposed Builders Pavement Plan was submitted which is required when a new building is being built in NYC. (Info here)

If you are a neighbor of this building, you can see future plan submissions here. (Choose the first one -> Building Information Search)

Then go to #2 – choose Brooklyn and put in block: 6309 and lot: 7

Bay Ridge Dems Endorsed a Woman From Queens for A Brooklyn NYC Council Position

Wai Yee Chan lives in Queens, but she wants to be a Council representative for District 43 – the Asian District in Brooklyn.

Why didn’t the Bay Ridge Democrats tell Brooklyn that Wai Yee lives in another borough?

This is not a grassroots campaign. This is a lot of people trying to fool Brooklyn!

Some of the Bay Ridge Dems don’t live in Bay Ridge, so why would they care who represents our community?

There wasn’t an Asian man or woman in BROOKLYN that the Bay Ridge Democrats could endorse for this position. OBVIOUSLY they don’t know a lot of people!

District Leader. Chris McCreight used to speak out against every politician who was running for office outside of their district. McCreight had to know where Wai Yee lived as he worked with her for years at Brannan’s office.

The Brooklyn Young Democrats asked Wai Yee about her residency and they shared the video below where she admitted that she doesn’t live in Brooklyn.

Chris McCreight went after Wai Yee’s opponent, but wouldn’t say that Wai Yee does not live in Brooklyn!

Not one of the politicians would tell you that Wai Yee doesn’t live here!

Why didn’t Iwen Chu tell Brooklyn? Why is Iwen pushing a woman from Queens, when there are plenty of Asians in Brooklyn who can represent their community?

Four months after being election, Iwen Chu still has not opened an office. This senator worked in Assemblyman Abbate’s office for years and she doesn’t know how to rent an office and set up? Very limited hours for help were given to residents in Dyker Heights.

Wai Yee won’t call out Iwen for following in Abbate’s step, but every other candidate that is running would!

Susan Zhuang slammed Wai Yee for being silent when Justin Brannan supported defunding the police.

And yes, Brannan did vote to defund:

I’m not a fan of Wai Yee’s. On her Facebook account, she posted pictures from Somos that looked like she was on vacation. How would Puerto Rico be helpful to the Asian Community? Wai Yee was silent about all the lobbying that happened at Brannan’s office. She could have spoken out against him when she left his office, but she remained silent.

She doesn’t care – Brooklyn is not her community!
