Despina Kotsis, a designer from Bay Ridge, will have her clothing brand, Minx New York featured in the movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3! (Info here)
Kotsis started her company, Minx New York in 2017, while she was a student at Fort Hamilton High School. In June 2018, Teen Vogue featured Minx New York in their magazine.

Gounardes Points the Finger – Yet, He Voted for Cannabis to Be Legal Without a Strong Plan
Andrew Gounardes often plays on social media like a teenager. He writes tweets to praise himself regularly.
Today’s tweet was so inauthentic because Gounardesvoted in favor of legalizing weed, without their being a strong rollout plan. The result is over 20 illegal pot shops in Bay Ridge.
When you mess up, admit it and apologize! Of course Gounardes #PlayedPolitics and pointed the finger at everyone.
Gounardes called the cannabis shops a blight on the neighborhood – yes, Gounardes took part in that. Community Board 10 wrote a letter to the state about it because Gounardes and Brannan did nothing!
Andrew even wrote the he fought hard. LOL. Weed has been sold in shops in #BayRidge since last June and for the most part Gounardes was silent.
Sadly, young teens in our community have been able to purchase weed for $30 purchase at one of these shops.

In Some Parts of Bay Ridge, You Live Longer
Community Board 10 had a staffer from Brooklyn Borough President, Antonio Reynoso’s office at tonight’s meeting. (See video here) He basically read the health report, You can find it here.
The life expectancy map below has light pink and medium pink areas where people live longer than average. Regular red is average. Dark red is fewer years than average. We have some dark red blocks – what is causing that?
Is that dark red near The Owls Head Waterwater Treatment Plan?
The Adult Cancer map was very sad too. Light pink and medium pink are better than red and dark red. Why are some areas white?
Coney Island has a lot of dark red areas.

This meeting is about the new 676 seat seat high school on Ovington Avenue.

Music Box School at 9402 Fort Hamilton Pkwy in Bay Ridge will have fashion illustration classes for children 8 years old and older!
Classes start Tuesday, May 23 at 5PM-6PM. $25
There are six spots available.
Through our classes, your child will learn the basics of fashion illustration, including how to draw the human figure in proportion, how to create clothing designs that are both fashionable and functional, and how to use different materials and techniques to create unique and eye-catching designs.

This cat was found in Dyker Heights roaming in a yard on 80th Street between 13 & 14th Avenues.
