Gong Cha is Opening on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge

Gong Cha is opening on 74th Street and 3rd Avenue next to Gyro King.
It’s bubble tea shop. They make a lot of different types of teas – not just bubble tea.
There are Gong Cha shops all over Brooklyn and NYC. The closest one is on 57th Street and 8th Avenue.

Gong cha means: “tribute tea for the emperor.”
What was this shop before? It used to be part of the Gyro King, but they downsized and cell phones where sold there.
Next door to Gong Cha, Tortas Eden Deli and Grocery opened. (Info)
Good luck to the new owners. Everyone is going to love your new store, especially the preteens and teens who love bubble tea!

April 5, 2023It Took Councilman Brannan a Week To Mention a Brutal Murder in Our Community

Last Wednesday night (March 29th) before 8:00 pm, John Sarquiz was brutally robbed on 13th Avenue in Dyker Heights.
On Monday night, John Sarquiz died.
It took Councilman Brannan until yesterday to mention the incident on social media. (See Facebook)
While specific information about a police case is private, Councilman Brannan and Senator Andrew Gounardes should have shared basic information about the crime with Dyker Heights residents as it can happen again because the murderer is still on the loose.
Brannan is not a leader for this community. Please vote him out.

April 4, 2023A Man Fell Off a Building in Our Community…No One Spoke About It, But People Should

When someone dies, Bay Ridge – TALK ABOUT IT!
It doesn’t matter how the person died, their life had meaning – talk about them.
Not one politician mentioned what happened.

Tonight, Andrew Gounardes mentioned the suicide, so he could use it for his narrative with his political friends on Twitter. It’s very insensitive because he never mentioned the man or offer condolences to his family.

Senator Gounardes left a lot out of the story. The Justice System failed this man from our community at many levels over several months!
How did so many departments come in contact with him and JUST RELEASE HIM?
Let’s go back a few months when the problems started. People called out for help and nothing was being done. The situation continued to get worse. Why didn’t Senator Gounardes call for the man to receive help then?
The man came in contact with hospitals, the police and jail over several months. If he was still in jail, he would have been receiving help.
This isn’t the first time that a man who needed help, was arrested, released and then died soon agter. In 2020, Marc Lamparello, a college professor went to St. Patrick’s Cathedral with gas tanks. He was arrested and released due to Covid. Days later, he committed suicide from the Verrazano Bridge. (Story here and here)
There’s three years between the man from our community and Lamparello. Senator Gounardes has been in office since Lamparello’s deaths and Gounardes made no changes to help men.
The acts of someone when they are sick are not meant to be left unsaid. This person mattered to people and they loved him.

Before Brooklyn Brew Cafe opened, I had Marina’s Matzah Ball Soup and I finally understood why people like this type of soup. I normally don’t like matzah ball soup.
Brooklyn Brew Cafe at 310 – 79th has Matzah Ball Soup 347-578-7239 – it says Kosher for Passover.
