Another Rape in the 68th Precinct – Four in the Last 30 Days. Two Female Politicians Are Silent.

The NYPD Crime Stats shows that another rape happened in the 68th Precinct in the last 30 days – that makes a total of four.

The NYPD Compstats site shows that this rape happened on Thursday, April 6th at 4:00 am on 63rd Street and 11th Avenue. (See here – select Brooklyn South from the top left – then 68th Precinct)
Iwen Chu is the senator who represents the area failed to share information about this crime. This is the second rape, Senator Chu has ignored. The other rape was on 3/31/23 on 12th Avenue and 66th Street at 8:00 pm.

Is the same person committing these rapes?
Senator Chu boasted that she works closely with the NYPD, so why hasn’t she alerted the community?
Two women elected leaders didn’t think the community needed to know about a rape that happened near the train station.
The percent changes were removed/not displayed for rape and murder in our district.
.

This is the fifth rape within the 68th Precinct. Local Leaders – Councilwoman Alexa Aviles didn’t mention it – it’s ten days later!
Councilman Brannan does not tell the community about rape. Yes, it’s possible to tell the community what’s going on, without discussing personal details.

People need to know if the rapist(s) has been caught or are they out on bail. If they haven’t been caught, elected leaders should be discussing what is being done to secure this area so it doesn’t happen again.
Oh and any politician who thinks saying the rape happened years ago and was just reported now….no one is reporting a rape from years ago at 4:00 am. (Yes, one elected leader has made this claim for two rapes last year).

April 15, 2023Michael Ragusa Ended His Run For NYC Council

After there were problems with signatures, Michael Ragusa withdrew from the election for NYC Council. (Story here)

Yesterday, The Post revealed their was forged signatures on Ragusa’s petition. City and State revealed the forged signatures were on sheets that a volunteer had collected. (Story here)
Remember Michael Ragusa is not a professional politician. How would he know that a volunteer would submit phony signatures?
Update: WOW…I heard more about this, it’s not what it seems. And the person involved should be embarrassed.
Avery Pereira said this:

Mike Ragusa had a lot of supporters in Bay Ridge because he was very passionate about representing the community. It’s sad that his run ended this way.
Corruption breeds in our community due to lobbyists and developers having some of our politicians. We need a new Council representative.
