Gounardes Flip Flopped on Good Cause….See What the Newspaper Wrote Was the Reason

Good Cause is basically a socialist bill in the NYS Senate. In November 2023, Gounardes wouldn’t sign on to Good Cause.
The newspaper explained how they got Gounardes to change his mind. Andrew must have not wanted his mother or wife to see the protesters outside his home. (See newspaper)
The Good Cause Eviction bill prevents landlords from raising rent more than 3 percent or 1.5 percent higher than the Consumer Market Index. It also prevents landlords from evicting a tenant unless they have a good cause (not paying the rent is not a good cause!)
Republican mocked Gounardes because Gounardes like to play politics on social media. (See here)

April 17, 2023UPDATE: A Nine Story Building That’s 95 Ft High is Being Planned for 86th Street & 14 Avenue

This property is on 86th Street and 14th Avenue. (Map here)
Here’s what they want to put there:

Scarpaci Funeral Home wrote on Facebook that they are not closing, selling to developers or anyone!

There are no other nine story buildings on this street, but the owner of the property applied to have this property rezoned.
The owner of thus business don’t live here. If someone was building a nine story building on his residential block, he wouldn’t want that either!
What’s behind this business on 85th Street? A block of beautiful two-story buildings. (See here) When people purchased these properties, they were aware there was a businesses behind them – not a businesses that were 95 feet tall towering over their backyard!
Community Board 11 is having a Public Hearing n Monday, April 24th at 7:00 pm at Il Centro at 8711 – 18th Avenue.

Councilman Justin Brannan was asked about it and he claimed that it was too early for his office to be involved. Does this look like it is too early?
Now our Brooklyn neighbors need to go fight to keep the zoning for the area because they live there! Why do people need to fight when the law is clear about what can be built here?

.
Of course not one politician bothered to tell the community that this rezoning was being requested or that there is a meeting on Monday night. WHY? Because they want it to be TOO late for anyone to do anything.

Thor Equities is holding an event at Garguilo’s. The residents in Coney Island are fighting back against a Casino in Coney Island.
Of course lobbyists have been trying to lock in politicians since 2022. Before the community was gerrymandered and our district is extended, look who was lobbied by Thor.

April 17, 202368th Precinct Meeting on 4/19/23

The April meeting of the 68th Precinct Community Council is on Wednesday, April 19th at the Bay Ridge Towers at 260 – 65th Street at 7pm.
None of the people on the 68th Precinct Community Council have mentioned rape at the 68th Precinct.
When their meeting was remote on Zoom, they did take my question about rape. It is a different President now, but some members are still the same.
