Did You Want Andrew Gounardes to Be a Parole Justice Champion? He’s Co-sponsoring the Bill!

Did you know that Andrew Gounardes is featured as a Parole Justice Champion for a group trying to get people older than 55 out of prison?

Did you know that Andrew Gounardes became a co-sponsor of bill 2423? (See bill here)

Last month John Sarquiz died after being sucker punched from behind on 13th Avenue in Dyker Heights. The suspect is 45 years old. Under Gounardes bill, John Sarquiz’s murderer would be out of jail in 15 years.

I didn’t see Senator Andrew Gounardes make a statement to the family about the horrific death in our community. Why didn’t he say anything?! John Sarquiz was attacked on March 29th – it took Justin Brannan until April 5th to mention it to the community. (See here)

Four years ago, Andrew Gounardes told this neighborhood, he was going to help with property taxes and illegal basements. Andrew Gounardes told the community that he was going to fix the bike path on Shore Road and he was going to open a new high school. Andrew Gounardes didn’t do any of those things.

Maybe the Gounardes’ thinks it is cool to release prisoners, gerrymander and have illegal marijuana shops all over the neighborhood, but we do not! We need a new representative that upholds the law and helps people in the community.

Filming in Bay Ridge on 6/1 and 6/2

There is filming on 87th Street and 89th Street and Narrows tomorrow and Friday. Residents can’t park due to the filming.

I checked Community Board 10’s website, their Instagram and Facebook to see who is filming in our area and there is nothing on there. This has to be someone’s job to tell the community. No one should be surprised by signs, especially not on an alternate side parking night.

Why do elected leaders in this area allow people to use our streets on Thursday and Friday, which are alternate parking days?!

This has been going on for years and not one has been able to speak up and do the right thing for the community. We need to elect people who aren’t afraid to speak up and ask them to film on days where there is no alternate side (or not at all – just kidding – not really though).
