CALLING ALL TALENTED TEENS
Triple Promise Academy for the Performing Arts is seeking new teen talent for our Musical Theatre Production Program!
The program meets Tuesdays from 5-7 pm and is open to students in grades 7-12. The course provides technique classes in acting, dance, and vocal music, altogether culminating in a big main stage show in June.

Marina at Brooklyn Brew Cafe is making her matzah ball soup on Friday, September 15th (on the Eve of Rosh Hashanah).
Years before Marina opened Brooklyn Brew Cafe, she sold her soups in some local stores. I was sick and a friend picked up a container of Marina’s soup. I don’t like matzah ball soup, but helped me get over a virus and it was very good!

September 12, 2023Grandmother Killed While Walking With Stroller in Bath Beach
A 66-year-old grandmother was walking with her granddaughter in a stroller in Bath Beach, Brooklyn around 1:00 pm today. She was struck by a pickup truck while crossing Bath Avenue and 25th Avenue. (NY Post)
The woman was brought to NYU Langone Hospital, but unfortunately died.
After the accident, the 2-year-old granddaughter was in the street under the red truck. People reached under to get her out. The baby had a cut on her forehead and some scrapes. (Source) She was brought to Maimonides Hospital and thankfully only has minor injuries.
The 56-year-old driver remained at the scene and was not charged. (Source) The Citizen app had very little information about this accident. (Here)
RIP. Prayers for this woman’s family – today must have been one of the saddest and scariest days of their lives.

September 11, 2023There is No Advertising on 9/11 Vigils, Politicians
It’s disappointing to see three politicians use a community event for 9/11 to advertise.
Councilman Brannan, Senator Gounardes and Senator Iwen Chu KNOW their names should not be on a banner for a vigil.
What should have been on a banner was Bay Ridge’s hero, Police Officer Moira Smith. Moira Smith was the only female NYPD office to die on 9/11. We know she saved a NYC broker because there is this famous picture.
Artists, writers and creative people, please try to include this local hero in the art and writing about our community.

September 11, 2023Teen on Moped Struck by Vehicle – 14th Ave/73rd
Around 2:30 pm, a moped was hit by a vehicle on 14th Avevnue and 73rd Street.
The 16-year-old driver appears to be okay, as she is talking to Emergency Responders in the video. (See video) THANK GOD!
