September 16, 2023Man Shot in Coney Island – West 21st & Surf Ave

A man was shot in the head in Coney Island tonight. He is in critical condition.

Councilman Ari Kagan quickly shared the details online, so that people would know that the suspect is still on the loose in the area. (Justin Brannan does not do that!)

When there is a shooting (or any craziness going on in a community), it’s so easy to share that information, so that people can stay safe.
Our politicians in #BayRidge do not use social media to communicate with the community when there are unsafe conditions in our area. When the shooting happened at the sneaker store, the guy ran around in Bay Ridge and no one shared that.

September 16, 2023Rose Glass in Bay Ridge is Closing After 75 Years!

Glenn Nocera’s Excellent Photo
When we moved to Bay Ridge (14 YEARS AGO), a neighbor recommended Rose Glass to us. I went to see Rose with a mirror project and then returned for three other projects.
Each time, Rose was so pleasant and her shop did a beautiful job in making items in my old house new.

Also Glenn Nocera’s Photo
Rose Glass must be one of the oldest businesses in Bay Ridge – it was open 75 years from 1948 to 2023. Many people purchased custom-made radiator covers from Rose.
Like a good neighbor, Rose said she is keeping her phone number connected to answer questions and refer people to her excellent colleagues in the area – 718-748-0414. That is soooo sweet!!
Happy Retirement Rose – thanks for taking care of us and many people in Bay Ridge!

September 15, 2023Why is Justin Brannan’s Sign in This Cannabis Shop Window After He Claimed To Be Against Them?

In July, Justin Brannan and Gounardes told us he was “going to get creative” over the illegal cannabis shops. It wasn’t the first time he declared he was going to get creative over the pot shops. (See here)

When Brannan wrote that he was going to get creative, many people believed Justin was against these shops.

If he is against these shops, why did he ask them to display his poster?

What is Councilman Brannan telling this store owner that would make this business owner want to display his sign in their window?
Governor Kathy Hochul said in July that she was going to close and fine these stores. It’s two months later and none were closed in Bay Ridge. Gounardes and Brannan was silent except for a few tweets from Brannan.

These shops were supposed to raise a lot of money in taxes. Are any of the shops without a license paying taxes (none of the cannabis stores in Bay Ridge were given a license).

September 15, 2023REAL -> Man Threatened With a Hammer on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge

When the Citizen App has an incident where someone says that they were being threatened with a hammer, I never believed it was real because who would be carrying around a hammer.
Near 11:00 am this morning, a man made a video and posted it to Citizen because the owner of another vehicle threatened him with a hammer!
The man was unable to leave his car on 3rd Avenue and 93rd Street because the other vehicle blocked him in. He called the police, but the hammer wielding man left the area. (See video)

September 15, 2023Ari Kagan is a Father – We Need a Parent Representing Bay Ridge in NYC Council

Ari Kagan is District 47’s NYC Council Representative. Due to gerrymandering, Bay Ridge and Coney Island are District 47.
Bay Ridge will be able to vote for Ari Kagan in November’s election!
On social media, Kagan is professional. He writes and updates the community about what is going on and what is being updated. He doesn’t fight with other politicians or write silly things.
Kagan’s children sent the above letter and I thought it was great because Bay Ridge needs a parent for a NYC Council Representative. ”
A parent will be able to speak up for schools. Kagan was respectful and professional as he and the parents fought against the migrants being placed at a Coney Island School. The Mayor’s office listened and promptly moved the migrants to a new location. (Info)
Ari Kagan also understands that people are afraid because of the changes that have happened to Brooklyn and NYC over the past few years. Every NYPD union has endorsed Kagan.
Justin Brannan has not been working collaboratively with the community for awhile.
Last Spring, Community Board 10 voted against a school location. Over the Summer Brannan told a private Facebook group the school project was still happening. Why did he waste all of those people’s time pretending that their voice mattered? (Info here)
Brannan isn’t a parent and he doesn’t seem to understand that you can’t plot schools all on one area because schools need room for buses.
Brannan thinks no one knows what is going on. We know. (See video)
A lot of lobbyists projects have hurt Bay Ridge! We had secret lobbying with Justin Brannan. If you haven’t read this and this, please do!
Bay Ridge Let’s Vote Out Justin Brannan and the lobbyists. Let’s Elect Ari Kagan to help our community!
