September 20, 2023What if the 68th Precinct and Justin Brannan Actually Talked About Crime in Bay Ridge…

The obsession with saying “Crime is Down” in our area needs to stop.
Imagine Justin Brannan, the 68th Precinct and Bay ridge had a real conversation about crime!
I’ll go first……On July 30th, there was a robbery at TD Bank in Bay Ridge. That part is true (see below).

It was shared that the police found “the suspect‘s vehicle” on 88th Street between 4th and 5th Avenue.
They allegedly captured him.
When they had the alleged suspect in custody, Justin Brannan tweeted this:

But something isn’t right here. Neither Brannan, Gounardes or the 68th Precinct updated the public.
If the bank thief was arrested, there would have been:
a) A story in at least one paper. The NYPD arrested a bank robber and a BearCat vehicle was in the area. Yet, there are no stories anywhere!
b) The Captain would have mentioned it at a meeting.
c) Some officers would have been recognized for their work – see the two incredible videos here – no one was.
Anyone talking about crime being down in Bay Ridge – GIVE IT A REST. In order to buy many items at the drugstore, we have to get a store employee to unlock the case.
Captain Schafer started in the beginning of June. (Info)
On June 23rd, two people were shot on 94th Street and 4th Avenue outside the Sneaker Store.
Neither the police or the politicians put out a message telling the public that the shooter was running in our neighborhood. (Info)

The caption in the photo says that the police were hunting for a suspect.
Most people didn’t know there were two suspects until the news shared that two people were arrested in August. (Info here)
Communication is poor in Bay Ridge. Politicians should be speaking with the NYPD and sharing the truth in a timely matter with the public – that doesn’t happen. (See here)

September 20, 2023The Ridge Shop – New Tween Shop in Bay Ridge

The Ridge Shop is a unique store on 3rd Avenue and 81st Street. But then it closed quietly in August. They hinted about heading the business in a new direction.
THE SHOP LOOKS GREAT GREAT!

Finally, they loaded this picture:

These plushies are very popular with Tweens, so The Ridge knows what they are doing! (See their website and here too)

Prices on their website start as low as $2.00 so it’s going to be a popular afterschool spot for young consumers in Bay Ridge, especially if they love stickers:

I can’t wait until this shop opens as it has so many cute items. This shop also has a beautiful backyard that they had classes and workshops in last Spring.

Congratulations and Good Luck to the Ridge Shop!

September 20, 2023Homeless People on the R Train Need Help

It’s another week of these men and women living on the train because Councilman Justin Brannan and Andrew Gounardes do not want to help them.

These people don’t have money or clout, so politicians don’t care that they are riding the subway. This is no way for someone to live.

These are people’s sisters, brothers, aunt, uncles, children, parents……their families probably don’t know they are riding the R train.

More women this week : (

September 19, 2023In October 2020, Bay Ridge Children Redesigned Owls Head Park with NYC Parks….

Three years ago, children in Bay Ridge went to a NYC Parks meeting over Zoom to help redesign Owl’s Head Park. (Info from October 2020 meeting here)
It’s 2023 and Owls Head Park park did not receive the new equipment.
By the time Owls Head Park receives a makeover, the children who designed it will be too old to play in the playground.
The scheduled park projects stop the Parks Department from maintaining the equipment at the park.
Andy shared these photos on September 3, 2023 because the park is not being maintained!

Some parents with small children stopped going to this park because the equipment is not safe (nails sticking out).

Tonight, Community Board 10 Parks Committee did not mention the poor condition of this children’s playground.

So much money is being thrown at park projects and tonight NYC Parks said they aren’t able to handle that many projects.
Parents in Bay Ridge shouldn’t have to take pictures and keep reporting broken equipment when they are spending time with their families. Manhattan parks are beautifully maintained!
