They can answer questions about:

- Questions on permits
- Questions on Construction Projects in the neighborhood (whose going to ask about the homeless shelter – send me notes if you do)
- Help resolve stop work orders
- Resolve open DOB and OATH violations

December 5, 2023RIP Jaclyn Elmquist – She Was Only 24 Years Old

Jaclyn Elmquist was 24 years old. She lived in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. She was from Minnesota.

On Thursday, November 30th, she attended a company party at a Catch Steakhouse in Manhattan.
On Friday, she was found dead in a trash chute at in Chelsea at 540 West 28th Street. No foul play is detected?
This building has a doorman. How was Jackie allowed in and allowed to roam the building?
How did she fall down a garbage chute? She’s a petite lady, but garbage chutes are small. (See the trash chute)
Prayers for Jackie’s sister, Maddy, her parents and family.

December 5, 2023Fifteen Year Old Stabbed at Murrow High School

A fifteen-year-old student was stabbed in the stomach at 9:30 am in the hallway of Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn today. (Story)
The teen was brought to the hospital and is expected to be alright.
The school was in lockdown for a long time as the school was checked. Another fifteen-year-old was taken into custody by the police. (Source) On Wednesday, Murrow will have metal detectors at the entrances.

December 3, 2023Rally in Gravesend Against the Homeless Shelter
Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, Assemblyman Bill Colton and City Council representatives Ari Kagan and Susan Zhuang rallied in the rain against the homeless shelter at 2501 – 86th Street. (More info)
Malliotakis lives in Staten Island and thought it was important enough to come to Brooklyn in the rain and rally.

Nicole Malliotakis shared on social media: “Joined the communities of Bath Beach & Gravesend #Brooklyn to FIGHT the City’s newly proposed migrant shelter. Stop cutting services from citizens to fund these shelters that have become nothing more than a business destroying the quality of life in NYC neighborhoods.”
District 43’s City Councilwoman shared that the community wants jobs – not homeless shelters.
Senator Iwen Chu did not attend the rally.

December 3, 2023Free Teen Photography Workshop in January

Bay Ridge photographer, Julia Xanthos Liddy announced that she will be holding a photography workshop for high school students at the Bay Ridge Library’s Teen Center on 73rd Street and Ridge Blvd starting in mid-January.
The workshop will take place on Tuesdays from 5:00 – 6:00 pm for seven weeks. The class is free for students 13 years old and up. At the end of the course, there will be an exhibit of the student’s work at the library.
Liddy owns Young Love NYC at 479 83rd Street in Bay Ridge. She is well-known for her beautiful photography (see here) and unique holiday scenes for children’s photos.

The Christian Santo Foundation closed 82nd Street between Colonial Road and Ridge Blvd. for their annual Winter Wonderland celebration. (See photos) Besides lighting the tree, they have food and entertainment:

Christian Santo died unexpectedly of heart failure in August 2020. He was only 27-year-old. (See photos)
The Foundation donated a wheelchair to a preteen, whose wheelchair was stolen. Such kindness!
