Adam Rx Pharmacy is Opening on 4th Avenue

Photo: Tom Hilton
Adam Rx Pharmacy is opening at 9508 4th Avenue. This storefront is positioned between Mike’s Deli and the 99 Cents Store. It’s also across the street from St. Patrick’s Church. 718-333-5205.
They were still setting up today:

Is it needed on 4th Avenue? Probably not because another Pharmacy is on the next block, Nevertheless, numerous apartment buildings on 4th Avenue makes this pharmacy a convenient option for residents who appreciate the personalized services offered by smaller pharmacies.

This storefront was previously occupied by Wagging Tails Pet Shop, which specialized in animal supplies and pet grooming. Wagging Tails cited higher crime as the reason for closing this Summer. (See here)

January 10, 2024Crime is Up in Bay Ridge

The new year does not start off well for the 68th Precinct in Bay Ridge. Robberies are driving up the high crime rates here.
Glad to see the 68th Precinct out on the street today:

The 68th Precinct shared with a limited audience that people are being robbed by a man/men on a moped (it was not shared with our whole community). Councilman Brannan failed to share that information as well.

January 10, 2024Migrants Moved to High School – Brooklyn Politicians Standing Up – Rally on January 10th

Today’s storm forced NYC to move around 2000 migrants from Floyd Bennett Field to James Madison High School. (See video)
On the news, they video clips of families with small children being moved into the high school – it was very sad. (See one here)
NYC is forcing Madison High School students to learn remotely tomorrow. One mother was so angry that her child’s school is being used, she went to the school and yelled. (See here)
James Madison High School students are being punished and forced to bear the brunt of the migrant crisis perpetrated by @JoeBiden. They were dismissed early today and are full remote tomorrow because migrants from Floyd Bennett are at the school tonight to weather the storm.… pic.twitter.com/5nSB8vAQ3n
— Councilwoman Inna Vernikov (@InnaVernikov) January 9, 2024
City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov’s communication came fast and strong. See her letter (Here)
On Wednesday morning at 9:30 am, Assemblyman Michael Novakhov will be leading a rally outside of Madison High School.

Assemblyman Norvokhov wrote: “Join us tomorrow at 9:30AM outside of Madison High School at 3787 Bedford Avenue.“

Assemblyman Norvokhov’s letter:

Photos on social media show that NYC did not plan well for this. There were no cots or mattresses. The families could have been given some sleeping bags and mats. Instead, they were given blankets to place on the floor. Then they were woken up very early and brought back to Floyd Bennett Field.

The high school students lost their school for the day – no class or dance. The migrant families were not treated well either.

January 9, 2024RIP Biscuit the Dog – Hit By a NYC Bus

On Monday, January 8th, the X27 bus was riding on Shore Road around 6:20 pm. Two dogs with collars and no leash were running – one dog was white, while the other was tan/brown.
The white dog, named Biscuit was killed by the bus. She was only one-year-old. A Bay Ridge resident helped the owner put her deceased dog in a bag, so she could carry him home.
A Bay Ridge resident was sitting in the front of the X27 bus that hit the dogs. That must have been awful to see, but the driver did not stop, even though she yelled. She took the bus number for the dog’s owner. *Thank God for good people like her.*
RIP Biscuit. Prayers for Biscuit’s owner. We are very sorry.
The brown/tan dog must have run away because no one shared any information about that dog.

January 9, 2024Gounardes Carried the Water as Governor Hochul Pretends She is Going to Take Action

Govenor Kathy Hochul gave her state of the state speech. It’s no surprise that developers are going to be in NYS for another year.
In July 2023, Governor Hochul told NYS that she was going to fine illegal cannabis shops. In the past six months, no stores in Bay Ridge have been fined by the Governor.
Senator Andrew Gounardes should have stood up in Albany and spoken out or protested for our community. Instead Gounardes is a puppet and repeated Hochul on X/Twitter.

Andrew Gounardes is calling illegal pot stores: “small cannabis retailers.” We need a new leader Bay Ridge. Those who can’t abide by the rules are operating illegally! Since 2022, Gouanardes has been looking the other way. (See here)
Meanwhile New Yorkers rallied against Governor Hochul over the drug overdose crisis. They want Governor to declare a state of emergency on the opioid crisis!
? HAPPENING NOW! ? We're in Albany, demanding action from @GovKathyHochul on the devastating overdose crisis. It's time for the Governor to declare a state of emergency for the opioid crisis in NY State and authorize #OPCsNOW! #StateofState pic.twitter.com/ZmtpCfNZA9

January 8, 2024Multiple Purse Snatchings in Bay Ridge

I shared about the two purse snatchings that I heard about here.
There were a few more women who had their purses snatched. Thankfully, some are sharing information so people are aware what’s going on.
Police reports were filed, so Councilman Brannan should have shared the information. Brannan is busy posting this.
I thought having Captain Kristen Schafer would be an asset to Bay Ridge, but it’s the same as usual. It would take five minutes to share the information online, which would make women more alert.

January 8, 2024Dyker Heights Do You Want This Cannabis Shop?

Dyker Heights if you don’t want a legal cannabis shop on 86th Street and 12th Avenue? Make some noise at Community Board 10’s meeting on Zoom or at the office on 5th Avenue if you don’t.

There has to be parents who aren’t interested in having all of these weed shops in Brooklyn.
Andrew Gounardes voted in favor of cannabis shops for NYS. Gounardes failed to check that there were limits on how many cannabis shops can be in a community.

We have almost 30 illegal shops in the 68th Precinct. Kathy Hochul said in July that she was going to fine the illegal shops. She was all talk and didn’t do anything. When Governor Hochul didn’t keep her word, Gounardes should have spoken out and protested. Andrew didn’t do anything because he is cowardly to the Democrats in Albany.
