Why Hasn’t Councilman Brannan Met With The Residents in The Towers To Share Information About the Homeless Shelter on 4th Avenue?
I spoke with a resident who lives in The Towers and he said they were blindsided by the homeless shelter. After all this time, Councilman Justin Brannan has not gone to speak with them or sent them any information about the homeless shelter that is proposed for 4th Avenue, near their buildings.
At a recent Board meeting at The Towers, many more residents showed up to the meeting then usual. The primary topic of was the proposed homeless shelter. The Board has been actively trying to get clear statements from Councilman Brannan and the Department of Buildings about this shelter, but have not received any clear answers.
Many residents living in The Towers tried reaching out to Councilman Justin Brannen, but have not received a response. Some said their numbers were blocked. Why hasn’t Brannan scheduled a meeting with them?
In November, Community Board 10 said one sentence about the homeless shelter. (Info) Josephine said she was getting information that week, but she didn’t share anything more with the community.
Residents in Bay Ridge are worried about crime, vandalism, drugs and a decrease in general safety due to the homeless shelter. A protest will take place on Wednesday, January 31st at 12:00 pm outside of Councilman Brannan’s office,

Carmen Medina – Missing From Bay Ridge
2/3/24 – Someone wrote: “She is with her family now. I heard this from a reliable friend of the family. Thoughts & prayers to her & her family.” Thank God for good news!
1/30/24 – Carmen is still missing. Her neighbors posted the photo and description below because they are worried.
Police are searching for a missing white, 53-year-old woman.
Carmen Medina is described as 5’4″ tall, 120 lbs. and she has long blonde hair. (Info)
Carmen was last seen January 28th at 9:00 a.m. in a pink sweatshirt and pink sweatpants.
Prayers for her fast return.

Donate $3.00 to Beautify 3rd Ave. in Bay Ridge
The Merchants of Third Avenue is having a #HeartsonThird promotion in February! For a $3 donation, shoppers and supporters will be invited to color in a template to be hung in the windows of their favorite businesses on the avenue to spread love and this beautification project!
**Participating merchants will also receive promotion and mentions on the Association’s social media channels and in the local media throughout the month. For more information on how you can support this effort, contact Events Coordinator Chrisie Canny at [email protected].

Robbery at Knifepoint – 18th Ave. & 79th Street
Around 12:55 am, a cell phone was stolen on 18th Avenue and 79th Street.
The Citizen App is showing that two teenage boys robbed an individual at knifepoint and stole a phone. No injuries reported. (Info)

Jeep Parked in The Same Spot For a Year?
Update: The owner has been away.
A white Jeep has been parked in the same spot for one year. Strangely, residents have never seen the Jeep receive a ticket on alternate-side parking days.
The front of the Jeep does not have a plate, but the back of the Jeep does. Residents think the Jeep may be stolen or belong to someone who has died.
Someone looked up the license plate on the vehicle and shared this:
Residents reached out to Councilman Justin Brannan, but Brannan didn’t have the vehicle removed.

Around 11:30 pm tonight, a person barricaded himself in an apartment on West 10th near Bay Parkway.

Sean Casey Animal Rescue has the kitten above for adoption. SCAR is at 153 East 3rd Street in Brooklyn NY 11218 and is open from 11:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
I have always owned a black, but the type that is above is the best kind of black cat. It’s a Bombay kitty and they are amazing cats to have because they “talk” and are very loving.
Bombay cats have yellow eyes, the fur on their nose is brushed downward and they have pointed faces. When I come home, this cat greets me with a happy MEOW! I’ve owned several of these Bombays and they all loved dogs!

Graffiti on Painting of The American Flag 86th St.
Several years ago this flag was painted on an apartment building on 86th Street and Dahlgren in Bay ridge. It went untouched for years. Now someone wrote Save Gaza on because they are angry.
