RIP Jundi He
Yesterday around 4:00 pm, a 67-year-old man died on 6th Avenue and 53rd Street in Sunset Park. Jundi He was riding an ebike. Then something happened and he was laying on the street holding his stomach. They brought Jundi to the hospital, but he passed away. (Source)

Kris Nelson teaches CPR for adults, children, and infants (and how to help an adult, child, and infant who is choking). Each member of the group receives a manual and a certificate.

Child Has Allergic Reaction to Non-Dairy Ice Cream at Sunset Park Carvel
A boy had to be rushed to the emergency room after eating a non-dairy soft-serve from a Carvel in Sunset Park. The Mother believes the machine may have had dairy. (See News)

Orange Theory is Opening in Bay Ridge – 3rd Ave
In 2018, Orange Theory Fitness first hung signs on 86th Street and 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge. Then they made an Instagram account (See here). Many people were interested in this location, but it never opened.
A different franchise owner is opening a location on the corner of 3rd Avenue and 78th Street in the Fall.
The new owner has not announced the opening yet, but the realty deal was shared on Traded.com because they got $55 a foot for the lease. (See story here)
This location used to be a Rite Aid Drug Store. There is a small Urgent Care at this address too (this one) between Tutor Time and Orange Theory.

Is a Trader Joe’s Coming to Bay Ridge?
My friends at Trader Joes told me that at the recent regional meeting it was announced that the next Trader Joe’s will be opening in Harlem.
Trader Joes is looking to expand East in Brooklyn, but they didn’t announce anything for South Brooklyn. Announcements will be shared on their page (here).
Years ago, Trader Joe’s HAD plans to move into Bay Ridge. They were going to move into the lot on 86th Street with a parking lot, but Justin Brannan stopped that. (Info here) A school was placed in the business district instead.
Last July, the former Century store location on 86th Street between 4th and 5th was spoken about, but Trader Joes did not make any commitment there. Construction hasn’t even started there either. (See here)

Places to Get a Watch Battery Changed in Bay Ridge
If it is a good watch that you really care about:
Global Gold and Silver Jewelry Store – 3rd Avenue and 89th Street – across the street from Chadwicks Restaurant. The guy knows watches and changes the batteries fast and easily $10.
Bobby’s Jewelers: He moved to 514 – 81st Street (right off 5th Avenue) See here
Malsons Jewelers at 440 86th Street 718-491-6666. I go here because they have been on 86th Street for years and I knew people who used to them. It cost $10 dollars and has a year guarantee. (Meaning: If the battery stops working, they will replace it without charge for a year.) *If you have a watch with a special closure, they have the tools for it.

If it is a regular watch that you need a battery changed on:
Sami’s Shoe Repair 386 95th Street (next to the diner – across from the train station) 718-921-1457 $10 for the battery with installation. *My husband goes to him and thinks he is awesome, but I had to go to Malson’s because my husband brought my watch to Sami. Sami opened the cover, put in a new battery and he was not able to close my watch back up after installing the battery.
