Russian Manicure Nail Salon Opens in Bay Ridge

Photo: Jeffrey Desmond

2 Mood Nails opened at 7620 – 3rd Avenue. You can make an appointment here.

The sign has the cost of the gel manicure and pedicure:

If you are thinking, “Oh no – not another nail salon in Bay Ridge.” You don’t know nails. Women who do, will be glad that a Russian Manicure place opened in Bay Ridge.

Russian manicures became more popular because of Tiktok, but women have been getting them for many years.

From: 2 Mood Nails

What’s different about a Russian manicure? It is a manicure that lasts and looks natural. It’s more time consuming because it is a very detailed manicure that takes care of the nail and the cuticle, so it looks perfect.

Assassin Attempted to Kill Donald Trump, But Killed Corey Comperatore

Yesterday, a man attempted to kill former president Donald Trump in Pennsylvania. Last night, social media was a mess with assumptions and people writing stupid things to sound witty.

The former president was very lucky.

We live in a world with a lot of sick people, who believe killing someone you don’t agree with is alright.

Corey Comperatore was not lucky. He was killed by one of the bullets aimed toward Trump. He went and covered his wife and daughter.

While the nation reviews this incident and blames guns or mental illness, one woman is without her husband and two young women are without their father. In one afternoon, all their lives were changed drastically.

Corey Comperatore‘s daughter, Allyson wrote this:

Besides being the saddest words from a woman who lost her father, Allyson wrote about her father cause she was sure the press wouldn’t do their job.

A Go Fund Me was set up for the family (here).

Man Robbing People in Our Community & Others – Same Clothing Each Time

Senator Gounardes and Councilman Brannan would rather write nonsense articles for the newspaper, than alert us about this man, who is robbing people in the 68th Precinct and other communities around us.

Why aren’t police or politicians saying, “Heads up Bay Ridge – watch out for this guy?” The police have the man on video since June, so information should have been shared with the community by now.

This thief has been seen in a white tank top, long red shorts with a white trim at the bottom, black and white slip on sandals (possibly Adidas brand). His boxers are showing as his shorts are worn low.

Out-Of-Touch Politicians, Gounardes and Brannan Keep Writing Op-Eds Instead of Taking Action!

On Friday, June 14th, Aihong Qu suffered severe injuries as a passenger on an e-bike that collided with a bicycle in the two-way bike lane on 7th Avenue in Bay Ridge. (News) She died three days later at the hospital.

Why hasn’t any politician mentioned her name? Why hasn’t any elected leader taken action for the community?

Why didn’t Andrew Gounardes or Justin Brannan close 7th Avenue and have the two-way bike lane evaluated? Why do these politicians keep ignoring problems involving e-bikes?

Is the two-way bike lane a death trap or is the area poorly lit at night and this can be fixed so no one else gets hurt?

Brannan and Gounardes have failed to do anything about e-bikes, even when people complain to them about safety issues regularly. Many of Gounardes and Brannan’s supporters want no restrictions on bikes.

Are Andrew Gounardes and Justin Brannan so out-of-touch with the area or with the NYPD? Do they only respond to traffic incidents after community members call them out, like the residents on Marine Avenue did when Annemarie Weisner was killed? (Info)

No cyclist in Bay Ridge spoke out for Aihong Qu.

Today, the two politicians wrote an article for the paper that was completely USELESS.

If a politician has to write an opt-ed, there is something wrong. If a politician was taking action, reporters would be writing about what they were doing! Neither of these politicians has a friend or family member that will be frank with them and tell them this?

Senator Andrew Gouanrdes had six years to make changes to the laws to improve the streets.

Senator Gounardes chose to push speed cameras. Gounardes should have used the cameras to punish repeat offenders with higher fines and suspend their license. Why doesn’t he understand limitations of the speed cameras? Andrew Gounardes told us he had a bill and was going to fix the speed camera bill, but he failed to get it passed year-after-year because he’s too busy playing on social media. (See here)

People keep speeding in NYC because they don’t care about a $50.00 ticket. Ask Justin Brannan – he paid for 16 of them! (See here)

Andrew Gounardes’ solution this year was just to add more cameras to NYC. If you walk around Bay Ridge, you know we need police officers on patrol because things have gotten too out of control. Cars are speeding, while many ebikes/scooters riders aren’t obeying the laws.

Gounardes and Brannan wrote the article to post to social media, so people think they care. Their failure to mention Aihong Qu tells us we need new leaders. Last July, neither Andrew or Justin took action when this woman was killed on 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge. (Info here)

We need new leaders, who care about their neighbors and don’t need to write op-eds or play on social media!

How Many Times Is This House in Dyker Heights Going to Go on Fire?

At 1:30 pm today, there was a fire at 1241 – 67th Street in Dyker Heights. The firefighters put it out. The Citizen App shows that one person was injured. (Info)

Do you recognize the house?

I remember it from the November fire. (See here) The newspaper said there was squatters in the building. The property was in the newspaper again in April. (See here)

Governor Kathy Hochul put into law this Spring a bill that should have made it easy for police to handle the trespassers. (Info)

Councilwoman Susan Zhuang wrote:

NYC need secure this property. We are lucky that more people were not hurt and other homes in the area were not damaged.

I have never seen this ad or used car dealership’s name before.

I am sharing it because it might help someone who is looking for a parking spot in Bay Ridge.

I looked at their website and this isn’t a garage, but rather a large lot that is surrounded by apartment buildings. They have some used cars in it that they are selling.

If you click here, you can see one picture of the lot. Then click on the right arrow and you can see more of the lot.

Stop and Shop on Cropsey Avenue is Closing

AUGUST 2024 update: (See here)

Stop and Shop announced that they will close some stores.

The one at 2965 Cropsey Avenue is on the list for closures. (News)

The date of closure is Thursday, September 5, 2024.

The next nearest Stop and Shop is Ave Y & East 17th Street, which is a nice store, but has a crazy parking lot.

That store parking lot always seemed very busy. Hopefully another grocery store will fill the spot because the next nearest one for this area is on Stillwell and Ave S.

A huge condominium complex will probably replace the supermarket.

Twenty-Eight Vehicles Were Stolen In the Last 28 Days in the 68th Precinct

A lot of vehicles are being stolen in the 68th Precinct.

Two people living around. Visitation School mentioned that their Hondas were taken this week. On June 27th, a Honda CRV was taken on 71st Street and Colonial. (See here)

Last year around the same time, only 10 cars were taken (see chart below). Now its 28 vehicles in 28 days.

More than half the vehicles stolen in the 68th Precinct were taken on Wednesdays or Fridays:

Times that the vehicles were taken by thieves:

The 68th Precinct should be taking action. Day time robberies should not be happening! Not one politician has spoken out about this, although several claim to be in contact with the NYPD.
